Where is the 335i's ECU?

I've been doing reading on the XEDE for the last hour and am wondering how easy it is to get to the ECU. My friend recently had a warranty problem with a dealership because they noticed that certain bolts were "turned". I want to make sure the XEDE can be installed with absolutely no way of the dealership knowing (assuming it were removed before service).

Do a in this forum. There are a couple of posts about XEDE installs that show step by step photos.

The ECU is located in the engine compartment on the passenger side under a plastic cover. The XEDE fits in a small space next to the ECU.

My understanding is the removal would be no more than a 30 minute job. If you get the version of the kit without the extra solenoids (the new version), it should be very difficult for anyone to detect the changes. (Unless they drive it )

Good luck

Thanks for the info. I figured I might find it in a search, but since there were no installation instruction on Vishnu's website, I thought they may not be out yet.

You will recognize the one that I remember almost immediately. There are photos almost from the beginning of the post. It is a review from someone that purchased the XEDE and had Shiv install it.

This is a good place to start:

I did a quick search and didn't see it, but I know that I have seen at least two topics that have photos of the install

Good luck

Thanks. I'm a few months out from buying a new car to replace my SLK230. I've narrowed it down to a 300C SRT-8, a 2007 G35 Sedan, or a 335i. With my experience with forced induction (my FD Rx-7 used to make 440 rwhp with a T66), I knew that BMW left some power on the table with the 335, so I wandered onto this forum to find out some info. Now that I've found this (the XEDE), I think I just made my decision...

What is funny to me is that I also looked at those cars when deciding what would replace my S2000. After driving the 335, I purchased it on the spot
I have NO regrets so far!
