Maybe a controversial view but when I was looking I drove an auto and I really didn't think it suited the engine as it's so torquey you don't need to kick down all the time and even in sport manual it had a bit of a life of it's own.... Manual for me all the way!!

Not controversial at all Jeff, it's a view shared by a lot of us (also a lot of auto lovers). Personally, it's manual all the way

Not a controversial view at all 335i_jeff. I've just got myself a 57 reg manual E92 335i M-Sport, and I agree with you that manual really suits this engine, as well as being much more involving and fun to drive. I drove both auto versions before I got the manual, so I drove the N54 version with 6 speed auto, and the N55 version with 7 speed DCT transmission. Both autos are very good, and the DCT is a technological marvel with instant gear changes, no torque converter slip, and better emissions and mpg...............BUT, when it comes down to it, I still felt the driving experience was somehow lacking compared to a manual.

Being retired, my driving is mainly recreational, going where I want and more importantly when I want, so I can usually avoid heavy traffic when the advantages of auto are obviously a big plus.

In terms of your sounding out views on the pricing of your car, I think you are being reasonable, but I think the market is pretty soft at the moment, and it is possible you will have to be a bit sharper with the price. I just paid low £19,000's for a private sale 16000 miles 2007/57 E92 335i M-Sport one-owner car in black, beige leather and dark trim, with folding mirrors, sun-roof, hi-fi upgrade, extended service package, new Bridgestones, but no sat nav (which I did not want - I think the TomTom is far better).

So I reckon you may be a bit toppy with mid 18's for your car without the goodies. But why not just see how it goes, and you may get a quick sale.

Incidentally I was quoted £1,400 from Evolve yesterday to remap my car and to supply and fit the FORGE intercooler, but obviously this did not cover the cost of the special wheels. So you are probably about right with the £2K you want for the mods.

Good luck with the sale.

funny they quoted me 2995 for remap intercooler and downpipes reduced to 2695 as forum member with buying history so 1300 for downpipes? seems a bit steep!
glws pm me with details of extras if you want to split at a later date
