Ugh!!! Just scraped the underside of my front bumper!!

How can I fix (or make it look as good as possible) without going to a auto body pro??

Any advise is greatly appreciated. See below......

For chips...deep scratches and gouges won't be as easy to touch up.

Maybe you should look into getting some splitters?

To be honest, this is something that is unavoidable. I just deal with the scratches under me bumper. I have an XI too....idk how people with sport suspension and coils manage.

I don't have an XI or sport suspension. Just got the car 3 weeks ago and misjudged the length of the front and hit a curb in a parking lot.

I did the same thing about 1 month after picking up my car. Unfortunately, it is almost inevitable because our cars are so low to the ground. I never pull completely forward into parking spots anymore for that reason. As ********* said, you just kind of learn to deal with it; plus you cant really see it unless you bend down and look underneath

I know but I'm one of those people (unfortunately) that if I know it is there it will bug me. I'll probably just try to clean it up by lightly compounding, use a little touch up, and then just wax it a couple of times.

I know the feeling. I would not worry about it too much because you will most likely do it again.

Some parking lots, the parking blocks are in such random lengths into the spots that you have no way of judging by looking at the spot next to you. Heights also differ for those blocks. Some parking spots are too short that force you over the blocks and you end up scraping. It is basically inevitable, and the best thing to do is get a lip.

Is it visible without getting down on the ground? If not, I would let it go -- which is what I have done in the past.

after the first time, it generally doesn't happen again

at least for me...I'm always cautious now whenever I approach a curb, speed bump, or dip.

it happened to me the first week after I got the car, with about 400 miles on it. I wanted to kick myself. I went home, filled ALL paint defects with touch brush, waited 24 hours, repeated this again, and then applied two layers of clear coat,it definitely looked better and not as visible when I sneaked a glance at it. its not perfect but I had to clear my conscious.. Now I am extremely careful when parking in front of these stupid parking blocks.
Good luck

What you did is exactly what I will do. I can't believe, however, that a bottle of white touch up paint from the dealer is $25. Unbelievable. Didn't ask about the clear coat. Either way, like you said, I'll do the best I can just to clear my head - whether I can see it or not.

Like golf - I'm finding that owning a BMW is 90% mental !!!!

Cheers and have fun with all your Bimmers out there!!!!

For $25, you get color and clear.

Touch up paint at most

To be honest, stone chips from the highway will cause similar wear to that exact region of your bumper...I would not worry about it!
