Lightweight Battery
I have a light weight Odyssey battery sitting in my garage. I think it is called PC680 or something. It weighs less than 20lbs, so probably much lighter than the OEM battery. I'm thinking of putting it into the 335. Does anyone know if it would fit or if there would be any unexpected problems considering all the electronics in the car?
Thanks, Baron |

You shouldn't have any problem with the electronics provided the replacement battery is of the same voltage and is connected properly, i.e., positive cable to positive post, negative cable to negative post. You should ensure, though, the new battery has the same or higher Cold Cranking Amps rating as the OEM battery. Look here for more answers.

Does anyone think that there are any benefits to install a light weight battery in our cars?
How much do the OEM batteries weigh? Thanks.

I've seen the OEM battery, they don't look like they weigh much more than 20 lbs, I doubt you're going to realize any benefit in a lightweight battery, shave a few pounds from a 3,600 lbs beast is not going to help much

I have seen batteries smaller than the ones in our car that weigh like 40lbs. Saving weight from various places add up. So far, I have saved 65 lbs with lighter wheels and tires. I figure I could save up to another 30 to 40 with lighter exhaust components. Add the light weight battery and that is like 120lbs total savings there, which is quite significant.

the benefits of decreasing weight on a car is unmeasurable, losing any weight on any car will prove to be an improvement in many departments (handling, fuel economy, performance, etc)

Yes, the Volks RE30 are among the lightest aluminum alloy wheels. I believe that stock 162 wheels weigh in excess of 30lbs, and the RE30s weigh about 17lbs each. I also switched from the RFT which shaved off several more pounds.
