Tire and Wheel insurance in NYC / No. NJ?

Hello,
I live in the NYC / No NJ area and I'm about to pick up my e90 335.

I was wondering what other folks in the area do about tire / wheel insurance in the area.

I've heard a lot about EasyCare and it looks interesting. Anyone have that can provide me some feedback on it or any other tire / wheel coverage?

I posted these questions on another part of the forum and it got lots of looks, but no one responded.

1) Is BMW EasyCare only for tires / wheels, or does it come in different favors, i.e. levels of coverage?
2) For the BMW EasyCare for Tires / Wheels, what price are people getting? My dealer is offering BMW EasyCare for Tires / Wheels for $600 for three years which seems like a lot. I'm in NYC / NJ
3) If I buy BMW EasyCare for Tires / Wheels from dealership A, can I take my car to dealership B and still get the coverage? I am asking this last one because I'm happy to get the coverage from a place other than where I bought my car but I would like to go to a single BMW center when I get my car serviced.

Thanks for the information.
- SR

495 for tire and wheel coverage (3 years) from jmk bmw in Springfield, NJ.

That might not even be the cheapest, but if you want, check them out. Ask for Lucas and tell him Alex sent you.

Sorry, I have no clue what BMW Easy Care is.

Hello,
Thanks for the information. I just called JMK and spoke to Lucas who told me that they raised the rates for the tire / wheel to $595 for three years since they have been getting so many claims for the RFT / Rims.

at $1000 for 3 years, it's STILL worth it. trust me.

1 RTF + 1 18" SP rim is easily 650+, and that's a conservative estimate.

I have 4 years for $600 on wheels and tires, since the Bridgestone Potenza run flats are ~ $230 a tire from BMW and $200 from Tirerack, I don't know how much for the rims (also tack on labor charges), I think its worth it. There are so many roads under construction (at least northern NJ) and lots of roads that really need to be under construction, it may really suck if I dent a rim on nice water filled pothole, but at least its covered.

i work for JMK and i got that pkg for my new 335....GET IT!!! those tires are very thin and does not take a big pothole to bubble them or worse to bend a rim. i already bubbled one on a small pothole on 78...we see similar damage every day.

Manhattan BMW sold a 3 year plan for $495 (approx. $540 after tax). I figured around NYC, this is a no brainer. Good luck.

I bought my CPO '06 330i with this for 595 and I think it is for the same time period as the CPO, which is 5 more years and approx 92,000 miles. This seems like a no brainer, but after reading the materials it seems that they will repair the defects, not replace. Also, the finance woman who sold it to me told me specifically to NOT say I hit a curb, even if I did, becasue they will not repair anything. The day I was picking up my car they had a owman come in and say she had hit a curb, so they told her they were sorry. Read the details finely, but you can take it to any dealership which is great when you are traveling.

In the NYC/North NJ area, it is probably a good idea to get the wheel and tire insurance. I got 5 years of coverage for $499 when I purchased my car (8/2005). I guess they didn't realize how expensive my 18 inch wheels and RFT's would cost to replace back when the E90 was newly released. My policy specifically mentions that any tire (or wheel) that is beyond repair will be replaced. This applies to any damage related to a road hazard.

So far, I haven't had to use the coverage, but it will be available for about as long as I plan to own my car. You may consider negotiating the price down a bit.

I got a referral to a wheel and tire insurance policy provided through www.TheAutoClub.com

I signed up for 1 year of the Tire/Wheel Advantage plan. Which covers me for $350 per wheel, $350/per tire and up to $1400 per year. With no deductible and they do not pro-rate.
The plan was dirt cheap...$27 per year.
I heard about it through a guy on Bimmerfest.com

I have not made any claims yet..my car is currently in the body shop and shortly before it went into the shop I noticed a small bubble on the front drivers side tire..on the side-wall...So I will let you all know how smooth the claims process is.
