engine scoops... better w/ stock airbox or DCI?

Can you utilize the hood scoops with both stock airbox and a dci? if so is 1 better than the other, or 1 cancel the other 1 out...?

Scoops with a freer flowing aftermarket intake will provide better gains than scoops with the stock airbox. It's not bad to do one or the other but they are very good together.

ok, thought so... I am looking at a 535, and the 535 forum is so against DCIs.. but everyone here uses them, loves them... they keep talking about how when hoods closed they don't do anything and in the summer actually hurt performance And believe in stock airbox with bmc filter and scoops.. I know people here the usual combo is dci and scoops..

This was my 1st time on the 5series forum and can't believe the 335 and 535 use the same engine, yet 90% of them say dcis are shit, and here 90% all have a dci..!!!!! im confused!

"You only need one for the 535i. This will help the DCI intake, but the BEST way to use the scoop is with the stock air box. "

"the dual cone intakes may shown an initial gain but when the weather and car are hot, it's been proven that they result in a loss of power. When i had the 535i and DCI's the car would constantly go into limp mode on hot days. After putting my stock box back on, i rarely had issues (besides cold starts which eventually led to lemoning my car).

Put it this way, if Lamborghini, Porsche, AMG, BMW M etc wanted to put DCIs on their high performance cars they would. the reason they don't is because the stock air box is able to pull in cool ambient air without getting heat soaked like the DCIs"

FYI, scoops do nothing but make your engine bay dirtier....save the $$$ for a more worthwhile mod. Use your stock air box unless you have a tune + fmic (and or meth) to negate the heat soak effect.
