Installed my BMS DCI intake... no noticeable difference :(
Install was super easy, however I don't notice any difference. I wasn't expecting any real power gains but everyone was saying the turbos spool faster and you can hear the difference. Honestly I don't hear/feel any difference. One thing to point out though is my car always seemed pretty noisy compared to other stock 335s so maybe it has something to do with that?

The only real way that you will see any difference is if you have a tune to take advantage of the greater air flow.

Clamps are on very tight. I'm just unimpressed by the sound difference (or lack thereof)

Does an intake really increase air flow though? A local shop told me the 335i intake is engineered pretty well. All you really need is a drop in filter and intake is just for sound.

The DCI on this vehicle will not really make any noticeable power gains - nor will you feel it in the butt dyno. The purpose of it is to free up some restriction for when you tune the vehicle and want to have less of a choke preturbo to run higher boost

I installed the EAS dci (basically the same as the bms, but with blue filters) this weekend and sound is not loud... But it is there. Try turning off the radio and accelerate in 5th. I find 5th the easiest to hear the turbo cause there is less engine and exhaust noise. Our cars are insulated well enough that the sound is rather understated in the cabin

Correct, you will lose a couple hp due to higher IAT's, but as soon as you get that tune in you will feel and hear the difference. At only 8psi you dont need that much surface area on the intake cone/filter. Its when you start getting into the added boost is when you need more surface area on the filter.

with a dci your not going to see any gains, without a tune your actually going to loose power. However you will hear a difference when you go wot

3 hp aren't tangible gains and can be due to tolerances even between consecutive dyno runs.

Stock 335i makes around 265 to 275whp. The power at the crank is 300hp.

This is my first dyno with the tune. Blue is tuned. Red is the stock baseline. DCI was installed on both runs but when your stock its more important to have cool air.

Remember this is a torque targeting car. Really unless you have reached the limit of your stock box, then you shouldn't notice a difference with a DCI. With a tune, your car will run the wastegate duty cycle too high as the stock box becomes a restriction. At those boost levels, the better flowing intakes will out perform the stock box because you are removing the restriction.

On a stock car, I would actually say the opposite. I believe a CAI will indeed help a stock car, but not DCIs. Wastegate Duty Cycles are not a concern at stock boost levels, so the DCI's should offer no gain. However, I would think the higher IATs when there is no flow to the engine compartment could cost you some power.
