BMW performance exhaust for e92 335i

Hi guys, I would appreciate some inputs regarding the BMW performance exhaust for the 335i coupe.

I am really keen on getting one for myself, since I have heard norhing but good stuff sbout it, but a recent discussion in my local BMW forum has really put me on the fence.

http://www.bmw-sg.com/forums/exhaust...35i-coupe.html

Someone has installed the system on his e92 335i and the sound it produces does not differ much from the stock he had.

After a around of discussions, most came to a conclusion that the PE for the e92 does not produce the deep and throaty sound like on the e90 because it does not come with a mid-pipe, which is why it is also cheaper.

Is this really the case? I hope someone who has the PE on their E92 coiled chime in on this, thanks.

I've heard the BMW PE on an e92 in person. The sound is a LITTLE bit louder than stock.

Ive done the research, I was debating the same thing since bmw wont void your warranty...etc. Its a SLIGHTLY different tone, and only gains 1-3hp and thats crank hp. SO practically nothing. If you want to gain some real hp, get a full exhaust(which means getting rid of the secondary cats) otherwise you are just wasting your money.

Buy the performance exhaust. You will love it. With procede in "NA mode" you believe to drive a race car (unfortunately with poor performance)

@Alfred
LITTLE? Perhaps at low speeds, but at full throttle and higher speeds the PE sounds amazing and is much loader than the stock exhaust.

But if you'll buy it because you expect more hp, better buy cattless downpipes.

You will love it... it's enough louder.... the car is crying upon high revs...

With open DP's it's no longer decent ;-)

Ofcourse there are systems louder, but I think BMW did some great engineering on this kit as it doesn't give you all kind of vibrations and some gains and especially a great sound....

He probably has to break in the exhaust a little.

Rubbish about it being just a little louder. It's a good bit louder.

I love the sound of the PE on my E92 coupe. While the exhaust won't make your 6 cylinder motor sound like a Ferrari @ 8500 rpm, it makes the car sound much more like an exotic.

I drive with the windows down whenever possible for that very reason!

Don't buy it for a horsepower gain (won't be much at all); buy it for the sound.

PE for e92 comes without middlepipes because e92 is already equipped with x pipe and no resonator from factory. This is why e92 stock is louder than e90 stock.

Guys, thanks for all your inputs, wasn't expecting so many replies.

Guess I will take the plunge and get the PE to see for myself, heh, I am sure it will not disappoint.

Your ears suck bro Its not a LITTLE louder, its A LOT deeper and better

To the OP

I love my PE, its quiet and non intrusive when you want it to be that, very stock like when not pushing on it, and when cruising at highway speeds is almost not noticeable, even at 80+.

Then, when you step on it, it comes alive and sounds great, not super loud and annoying, and very deep IMO compared to the stock exhaust. And the gurgling and crackle sound it makes on decel and feathering of the throttle is awesome. It def turns more heads when I hit the gas now.

This is on an otherwise stock e92 (JB+ tune only). With DP's and midpipes and other things, it may sound a bit different.

David, you didn't push your car to make me believe the sound was much louder than stock. In another word, you were being a grandma that day . Just kidding, your CEL was on that day.

IMO the exhaust wasnt quite as deep when I did, nor quite as loud. The muffler brand was different too. I know the 335is had the butterfly valve on it, and active of course, where the PE does not. Maybe it was because it had a few K less miles on it then mine BUT, it was a very CLOSE representation by all means.
