itouch plays but doesn't charge

Hi,
I have a '07 328xi which I got the classic ipod kit installed by the dealer when I picked up the car.

Since I got a itouch a few weeks ago, it works fine and everything except one thing...it does not charge.

Found out the itouch needs more voltage to charge it compared to the ipod.

Since my car doesn't have the USB or the 6FL option (wasn't avail when car was ordered and built)

What options do I have to be able to play and charge my itouch?

First question is whether it charges with your standard iPod cable within the car (non the bmw supplied one).

This may give some insight.

Yes it does charge with the iPod connected to it. It won't charge the itouch.

It\'s not the voltage

It's the pin configuration of the bmw cable. Get an adapter (links in other posts in this forum) and your bmw cable will work. Apple changed the the charging pin config starting with the 1st gen Touch and iPhones.

Older versions of stereos that support iPod used 12v charging, newer iPods are off 5v to charge. Get the Scosche passPORT and it'll work http://store.apple.com/us/product/TS696LL/A

Also an article mentioning the voltage issue http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/23/s...ld-ipod-docks/

^ Exactly

It also won't work with an iPhone. The newest BMW cable will charge these though.
