Upgrading 2011 Base Stereo

I think it is important to consult with the experts. So Technic and VP Electricity here it goes.

2011 335 E90 MSport. Premium Package, Bluetooth, PDC, Base Stereo.

I currently have the following parts:

- JL Audio 300/4 Amp
- Rockford Fosgate 400.1 Amp
- JL Audio 8W7 in enclosure

Thinking of purchasing:
- Earthquakes 8" for subs
- Raimbow 4" Components for the front.

I'm thinking of running the 300/4 to power the earthquakes and the front components and probably changing the RF 400.1 to a JL Audio 500/1 to power the 8W7 to 500 RMS. I'm planning on leaving the rear deck stock for now.

My questions is, should I upgrade the front and rear speakers and power them with the 300/4 and leave the seat subs stock for now or upgrade the front speakers and subs and leave the rears stock? I do plan on upgrading to a XD600/6 in the future and change the component that stays stock now.

Also, can I run 5.25" in the front with little modifications or does it require heavy modifications? What about the rear deck? Can I install 5.25" as well?

Somebody also recommended to run Kickers SSMB8 8" for mid bass instead of the earthquakes and tune the 8W7 only for low frequencies.

JL Audio Cleansweep will be installed if necessary.

Everybody's opinion is very welcomed.

Once you unplug the woofers -front speakers are connected in parallel to the woofers- there will be no power going to the woofers.

Power the front and the woofers with the 300/4 in the meantime.

MB Quart RUA 213 -if you can find them: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...90&postcount=9

Rear 5.25" require cutting your rear deck trim.

Most probably it will be needed, however we can try to recode your OEM HU to balanced signal so you will not require any de-EQ device.

I would:

- Stick with 4" speakers (Rainbows are excellent)
- Put in the SSMB8 under the seats (better suited for midbass and less expensive than EQ)
- Use the 300/4 for front components and SSMB8s
- Try the RF amp on the W7 (some of the bass is produced by the underseat subs, so you may get away with less power in the trunk)
- Get an MS-8 to normalize the signal and auto-tune your car for you (the money you save by not getting a new trunk amp may bridge the gap between the Cleensweep and the MS-8)

I~ll run the 300/4 for the front speakers and directly to the under seat subs. I can source the Quart RUA 213. So I`ll probably go with those with the Kickers 8". I can't source the Kickers though. Most sites show discontinued. Any links?

Can the 300/4 be fitted on the rear quarter panels in the trunk or on the compartment on the trunk?

The MS-8 is very expensive. I`ll run it without it and if needed I`ll use a cleansweep and see what improvement I get. If not to my liking, I`ll upgrade to the MS-8.

The RF 400.1 kicks very well with the 8W7, but the sub is rated at 500W so matching it with a 500/1 might be a better alternative. I can sell the 400.1 and get a used 500/1 and install on the sub box. JL amps make the sub kick a lot cleaner.

It may be possible to install that amp where the OEM amp goes, but standing up and using the OEM CD Changer trim.

Technic,

Is the CD Changer + Amp RACK at all usable in this situation? I am going to be triple stacking: MS-8, 600/6, MRD-M300.

I would like to build something that minimalist (i.e. mostly just a frame for the parts) as I want to maximize heat dispersion.

I forgot to mention that you will need to bandpass the underseat woofers and you will not be able to do that with those amps. You will need a processor to do it right.

Meet with Technic a few hours ago. Changed the Earthquakes for Kickers 8" SSMB8. Will be doing the install in a few days.
