As the title says, what do you use? And where do you get it? (oil/water based?)

It's about time I give my leather a condition to keep it looking & feeling good for years to come

Armoural Leather Protector

i've been using it for years on my previous car, and the leather has outlasted the car!!!

It was the first thing I bought for the car

Used Leather Master leather cleaner/polish, also ordered BMW leather cleaner/polish which haven't used yet.

I looked into all this a while back and the concensus was that as BMW Dakota leather is coated, no protectant was necessary. I was therefore only using Softly (wool wash) diluted in water and that was keeping it new.

After a while though the driver's seat and front passenger seat facings did begin to look a little duller so I tried the Zaino. The cleaner is excellent, leaving it matt and looking near-showroom fresh. The protectant I'm less sure about. It makes the car smell like a bootmaker's, makes the leather feel slippery for a couple of weeks, but after a month has worn off. Zaino is, I think, water based and said to be appropriate on coated leathers so I suppose I'm doing no harm.

Happy to be pointed elsewhere but I do NOT want shiny, slippery leather.

Anyone tried the BMW one?

I've been using this for a couple of years with great results. I get it from Super Cheap Auto.

meguiars, armour all etc leave a shiny coating on the leather.

best stuff ive used is the autoglym leather cleaner and conditioner
ive also heard that the bmw leather cleaner is excellent stuff but you do pay the price for it

I use Oakwood leather cleaner and their conditioner. I buy it from a horse supplies shop.

BMW leather conditioner/cleaner is great!! it comes with sponge and cleaning kit, it makes the leather feels softer and great leather smell too

i occasionally use my Kings Furniture Leather care kit as well. lol

I used Autoglym on my beige Subaru - nice matt sheen, never slippery, but very slightly darkened the leather over time.

Likewise not impressed with the shininess of Meguiars.

I've been using Zaino products for 5-6 years now since my last 3 cars all had leather seats.

Works wonderfully and leaves it looking and smelling brand new. Ive occasionally used my leather sofa care kit too when I've run out of zaino.

I've used the meguirs and i feel the zaino is a superior product in terms of leather maintenance.

i wouldn't clean unless you absolutely have to.

the cleaners strip all the natural and not-so-natural oils off the leather... and can leave them looking quite dry.

Coated leather shouldn't have oils to consider though. And apparently grit, grim salts and skin oils can harm the coating which is why some recommend regular vaccuming periodic gentle cleaning.

That's why you must use a conditioner after the cleaner.

Water from my spigot and Zaino conditioner if it's not dirty enough to need a cleaner.

I've used it on my Golf R32 .. it's great.. Restores/Cleans the leather to factory... matt, not wet nor shiney.. I love it.
