Anybody run scoops and a K&N drop in?
Was thinking about an intake, but don't have time to be swapping it out for warranty and service appointments. Wanted to see if anyone ran some kinda scoops (cyba or rpi or w/e) with a K&N drop in filter on a 335i and your thoughts about the setup. Thanks.

I have MFD scoops and the S&B drop-in. No difference in sound; not sure about performance but I really have no way of testing it. I like to think it's a better setup than stock, especially if youre running a bit more boost.

Never thought about either of these. Guess I should pop the drop-in out and see if the box has collected a massive amount of NY/NJ/PA bugs or dirt since the summer...will report back lol

I have them purely for cosmetic reasons, I havent noticed any pros or cons as my engine bay has not received any bugs or additional dust.

I have a BMS drop-in, no scoops....car felt a little better with the drop in, prob bc my paper filter had 60k on it!!! (or it could be the jb+ lololol) I like the re-cleanable filter so to me it was a no brainer.
As for the scoops, complete BS! Why would you want to, in-actuality, re-design and re-route the incoming air pattern that BMW engineers have prob spent millions of dollars on researching? I mean if you have the complete aFe $1000 enclosed cold air suction intake thing then maybe you will see dramatic improvements. Other than that, waste of money IMO. I also still dont understand why guys on here do open-element dual cone intakes on our cars....My 335 has to be the hottest running car I think I ever had....the underhood temps are way high, why would anybody think cones under hotter air would produce more power (with or without a tune)????????? |

I clean my engine bay with every wash, and havent noticed any bug or dust problems either, scoops didn't really change much, but hey it was a cheap mod, and i don't regret it
