For You PROcede guys - Part throttle improvements?
Ok so we all know the gains when the pedal's to the metal, but what's the improvement you guys are noticing in normal day-to-day driving?
Are you noticing that the car's more responsive at part-throttle with the ProCeed? I test-drove a 335i soon after they were launched and found the throttle response better in my 330i - ya, the 335i was faster but I'd rather have a car that FELT faster but was actually slower than a car that FELT slower but was actually faster ... know what I mean? Thx!! |

Umm not sure if im going to answer your question, but ill give it a go.
As for daily driving its tons more easier to drive since it has more tq (i have a manual). I dont have to shift all the time. I can usually just put it in 6th gear from 30 and it pulls easy. When I use to try it when I was stock I would get a studder and need to gas it a bit to get up to speed. Trottle response is a lot better. I use to fell no pull in 80 mph in 6th. Maybe I just got use to the car, but now from the same gear/speed it pulls. The car is just all around better. Still have to get use to the new power band but whatever. Also I for the guys that have a manual youll probably know what im talking about... First gear in the car stock use to be really "touchy", once I got the procede installed it was tons more smoother.

WalkedU is sort of getting what I'm asking but the rest are keying in on my "know what I mean" comment too much.
Just answer this please: "Are you noticing that the car's more responsive at part-throttle with the ProCeed?" Note the "part-throttle" part. Also, I'm asking the guys who got the ProCede only and asking them to compare to their car when it was stock. Thx ... maybe I'll start a separate thread on the "know what I mean" part later?? |

ummm i have no idea what your talking about!!!!! the car feels like it has more power in a lot of cases than the e46 m3!!!!! i think you need to test drive it again!!!! the throttle response is supposed to be quicker and the shifting faster as well in AT anyways!!!!! when i gassed her i felt immidiate power that is why i had to order one!!!!! so fast clean and easily upgradable b/c of the turbo setup!!!!! no lag on the couple i have test drove in fact...coupe and sedan....the coupe felt faster though for sure!!!

The car is better in just about every aspect at all rpm ranges and throttle position. As WalkedU mentioned, I also have a manual and anytime I'm at low speeds in a high gear, all you have to do is just depress the throttle about midway and you'll begin the feel the awesome swell

Curious why you would upshift to 6th gear @ 30mph before the PROcede mod was installed? I'd typically be in 2nd or 3rd (maybe 4th tops) at that speed.

I know what the op means and was wondering the same. When I test drove a 335 the throttle responce was terrible compaired to my M3.
he is asking if the car responds to throttle position not how fast it goes when your foot is 90% gull throttle. Im my M3 5% throttle would make the car move like using 90% of its power with a stock 335 5-10% throttle and the car does nothing. Its a mushy power feeling and not responsive at all.If you could tune the procede to give the quick responce of what an M3 feels like in sport mode would be unreal. the 335 wakes up when your past half throtle...In my M I never have to go more than 15% because it dosnt make a big difference. I remember reading that the 335 didnt give full boost until full throttle so that is prolly what the op is asking. |

But yes, the most noticeable differences between stock and with the PROcede is what happens before full throttle. -shiv |

That would be great, thanks! Partial throttle response is the primary factor holding me back from upgrading to the 335i.

Some people dont realize this but the 335 ECU limits boost until the car is warmed up, which could take 5-10 minutes depending on the weather... When I test drove the 335, I did not know this, and I was thinking to myself, wow, this doesnt feel any faster than a 330... and the throttle response is sluggish.. and then as the car warmed up, it just seemed to "come alive". The drive BACK to the dealer was 10 times more thrilling than the drive AWAY from the dealer... it was like a totally different car!
That said... if you test drive a 335, dont give it hell and expect much until you are over the 170-180 mark on the oil temp guage... I have a friend that works with me that has a chipped 2.0T GTI... the car is fast, but i should be albe to pass him easy... so we leave work, pull up to a light, and he totally walks me, my car felt like a dog... we get up to the next light, which is the light for the onramp to the highway, nice and clear, and I pass him up to 5-7 car legths before we had to slow down... point being... LET IT WARM UP!!! |

Like the other fellow said too, the part-throttle improvement with the ProCede is where it would make or break a purchase of a 335i for me - again (as my OP mentioned), I'd rather buy an NA car that had better throttle response where I do 99% of my driving than a turbo car that just hauls when I'm in the 1% of WOT and has weak response the other 99%. ... lookin' fwd to the part-throttle dyno's - try and keep a consistent throttle position Shiv between the stock & ProCede runs! |

I have a 335i that is NOT Proceded... The throttle response at less than full throttle is a little sluggish in D... Put it in DS and change the RPMs a little and that sluggishness is gone. Not sure if that is what he is referring to, but it makes a big difference in day to day driving. I'm sure both D and DS modes are improved vastly with the Procede.
