HELP ID my stereo system
Hi All, I have a 2008 E90 328i Sedan, I am trying to figure out which stereo system spec I have so I can then read the proper threads on upgrading the entire system... The Spec sheet reads: Anti-theft AM/FM Stereo CD/MP3 player audio system with 10 Speakers (including 2 Subwoofers), the HU reads BMW professional... I can only count 8 speakers: 2 tweeters front door panels, 2 round front door panels, 2 subs under front seats, 2 rears on back board, where are the other 2 speakers or is the spec sheet wrong?, also is this then the standard or hifi or other?, I know for sure its not the HK or the Logi7....
Car USA model bought in texas... Thanks, |

The HU doesn't matter - any HU can be with any system.
The 328 in 2008 usually had HiFi unless L7 was special ordered. I recall some argument about the spec sheet, but I believe there are 4" and tweeters under the R deck grilles. You have HiFi. Contact me for packages for sedans with HiF |

HiFi it is then.... wow that sound is terrible, for a moment I thought I had the standard and that the so called hifi was much better but not...
so what are my upgrade options?? also, is it pretty labor intensive/specialized or is it an DIY job?, I have very limited experience working with car audio but enjoy DIY jobs, especially if I can save some real $$. S |

VP can give you kits that have all the necessary shims, machining etc. There are many DIY threads here and there is also a DIY sub-board here. Technic makes a harness that makes installing and amp very simple. There are some things you have to watch out for. If you are changing the front seats speakers with the battery attached and you detach the seat connectors it will cause and error code . If you attach power to the distribution block on the battery there is a chance of blowing out the fusible links and having to replace that. Those are the ones I am aware of there may be more. Replacing head Units may have side effects known and unknown many threads on this here. See BSW videos and the DIY Board to get an idea of how hard DIY is.
