Engine Shaking
K so i have a 2008 335i cabriolet. So its winter where im at and when ever i start the car and start t drive the car shakes. After letting the car heat up for 5 minutes the shaking goes away. I still have warranty but should i be scared? The check engine light is on, and the shaking is pretty bad.

Shouldn't be shaking. I have rough idle sometimes, with RPM needle movement, but it's not just when the car is cold.
I had my valve train inspected 10,000 miles ago, and it was filled with goo. They cleaned it all out, and the problem seemed to go away for a while. Unsure if it's a connected issue, but the car drove like brand new once it was all cleaned out. |

Yes, or that. ^ Though my repeated visits for this have failed to solve the problem. I'm now skeptical that the HPFP is related to the rough idle.

mine started out like that. i could feel the car shake but no engline light, going on for quite some time. 3 days ago the shaking got really bad and the engine light managed to come on, noticed that the lower the rpm goes the more it shakes
anyways car is going in tmrw. ill update when i can. |

Its likely related to HPFP, or injectors. It should throw a light when it happens more then 3 times. If its easily repeatable you can probably bring it in for diagnosis regardless of having a light, but its best just to wait for the light unless the problem persist for too long.
Since you have the light on, bring it in. |

Mine had the same symptoms before my HPFP went bad last week. Rough idle on cold start, excessive engine vibration at about 900 RPM. Codes pulled indicated cylinder 3 misfiring. Took the car in for service and got it back the next day. It misfired once again a few days ago, but hasn't had any problems since.

Seems to be your average misfire. But it also seems your in the early stages of it.
Its either 1 or 3 things. 1) you injectors 2) HPFP 3) plugs.

The dealer said nothing was wrong with my car. He said the shaking during cold weather was from lack of back pressure due to catless downpipes; thats wrong.
