N54/N55 HPF Update
NOTE: BEFORE READING THIS, I DO NOT WORK FOR HPF NOR AM I PAID BY THEM IN ANY WAY. I AM ONLY TRYING TO INFORM THOSE THAT ARE INTERESTED IN HPF'S FUTURE PRODUCTS SO I CAN HELP SHOW/REPRESENT A MARKET FOR THESE FUTURE PRODUCTS FOR THE N54. I AM IN NO WAY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY ACCUSATIONS ABOUT THESE PRODUCTS AND ONLY WANT TO HELP HFP WITH PRODUCTION OF THESE PARTS.
I have been talking with HPF about my mods and what mods I want in the future. I have been speaking with them about a clutch solution and a meth solution as there are soo many people recommending different things...its hard to figure out what best(which is always subjective ofcourse) for the this car(335i). I trust HPF much more than a lot of other companies and they see things in a similar way as I do, hence I asked them to help me. So I proposed that they help me come up with a solution my clutch and meth kit. Well it turns out that these parts were brought up in a meeting today and I have been told that they are going to make a clutch and a meth kit for the n54. Reliability, safety, and of course power/withstand power are some of the main characteristics that HPF and I are looking for. So...before everyone starts making accusations about release dates, prices...etc...I dont know. I do know that they will come out before the single turbo kit so the wait wont be THAT long. Again, this is very preliminary and I would like to know what the flaws of the current meth kits and clutches so I can try and help them avoid these poor features and try and speed up the R&D process. I know everyone is impatient on this forum...including me. Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Yes, as I said, this is literally info from today. I will post more info as it comes out but I can say with an 98% certainty that the clutch will come before the meth kit. They will have to do much more R&D with the meth kit as it will be totally custom. From what I can tell, the clutch they have in mind will have a full face(not a puck) and be able to easily withstand the current power levels of even RB's upped turbos that are producing just over 500whp and gobs of tq(yes i know clutches are rated on tq I just dont know how much the rb's are making tq wise) If you guys had a chance too look at AR's current posts, they just reported back that their clutch was fried. I believe that clutches will become A LOT more important for those of us planning on getting upped turbos, whether it be single or twin. FBIS already blew his stock clutch and is using clutchmasters stage 8 clutch. Do your research and you will find that indeed clutches are becoming more of an issue than some of you may believe. There is no sense in making big power if you cant put it to the ground!

Oh i know, i like to play...thats the point of a forum. Meet some cool..knowledge people that are cool to talk to. I believe they want to keep the pricing as it is in order to keep the average buyer out. They offer the FULL experience(best performance, reliability and GREAT customer service, those that dont wanna participate will have to find other routes, no offense, just my opinion.

No, but I will inquire more about this in the next day or so bc I too am in the market in the NEAR future. I just want it here(at my house) waiting WHEN not if my clutch starts to slip. Its really inevitable as we push these cars farther and farther.

True but I honestly don't know if 335i is the right market for them since I don't see a point for people who can afford all these things to get a 335i in the 1st place.
EDIT : maybe I'm wrong and maybe it's just me but I would never spend money on mods just like 0oh I got paid let me go buy an exhaust for 2000 lol there's so much other shit to waste on, I spend money on parts only when I feel like I got a little bonus I can fuck around and buy something but I guess some people work to mod their cars IDK Last edited by Iwantm3; 01-04-2011 at 10:22 PM.. |

So they are going to manufacture their own clutches??? Literally make all the pieces in house??(Pressure plate/discs/etc)?? That seems a bit out of the scope of their business...especially if it's only for N54s. I would bet they are going to contract out the work and private label the products. The costs to purchase the manufacturing machines/presses and other tools to manufacture clutches is pretty high, and I'd have to say the ROE/ROI is low, if not negative, and the NPV cannot be good. (This is assuming they don't have any of the manufacturing tools and equipment now). However, If they were to go 100% and make these for every platform, that's great, and the new venture should give quite a bit of consistent revenue.
Meth kits- So you're saying something will be different in the way meth gets from a tank to a charge pipe? I can't think of any significant changes in the system that would be better...The current 'systems' work well now- Tank -> Pump -> Flow Sensor-> Solenoid -> Nozzle. What's going to be changed about that?? Even if you 'aren't allowed to say', please tell us that something in the above system won't be the same. All hail HPF. |
