gas lid problem...

I noticed tonight when I was pulling out of a laser wash and the high power air jets were drying the car that my gas lid was flapping in the wind. I thought maybe it wasn't pushed in so I got out to check. No matter if the car is locked/unlocked or lid pushed in/clicked out, I can easily open the lid. With the car locked and lid clicked in place(locking gas lid as well) I can just open the lid without pushing it to pop it out. However it's typically held in place its no longer held in place that way.

My car was rear-ended on that corner and has been fixed but i've been finding issues with the repairs almost bi-weekly. The repair shop has been great with me and fixing all my issues, but I'm getting slightly aggrivated. When I first picked up the car I pointed out that the gas lid didn't look properly aligned and stuck out a little too far when clicked down but they said it was fine. Now I have this issue.

I can't decide if I should tell them since the car still has to go in for another fix or turn it over to my dealer and warranty the lid problem with them? What would you guys do?

That's what I thought. Yeah it's been an uphill battle ever since I got it back. First was the paint chipped around the rear window, trunk didnt close properly causing the tray in the trunk to not shut all the way, rear passanger door wasn't aligned, I had to have a 2nd blackline ordered due to the 1st one they got was fogging badly and I had a wierd rattle coming from the rear deck area.

The car is going back for the rattle cuz it took me putting the shop manager in the car and going for a drive to show him what I was talking about. Now the gas lid has a issue.

Like I said they have been great with me. I'm near positive that my E90 was the first E90 they had their hands on to fix so I was the learning curve. Oh well, I'll be calling them tomorrow.

sorry about your gas lid. Next time, when you bring the car back in, just tell them that the lid is not suppose to be like that. Also, you might want to call them ahead and let them know you have issue with your gas lid so they wont be surprised.

Well I figured it out. It was so cold last night that the locking pin was frozen in so it wouldn't lock. Duh haha.

Anyways, does or has anyone adjusted their gas lid? I can push the interior parts in a little bit allowing the lid to sit flush with the body panel. I just don't know how to do it permanently.

i know there is a manual pull to open the gas lid located in the trunk. Perhaps "pulling" on this will "reset" the frozen pin?

and you're not alone:
