Minor AccessPORT Update Coming
We are about to roll out a minor update for the BMW AccessPORT. In the past week we have focused our efforts on implementing a few developments that will make new ROM integration easier. This firmware update is expected to be available on Friday, 01/28/11.
The new ROM consolidation will eliminate unique maps for automatic transmissions vs. manual transmissions. Going forward the AccessPORT maps will be unique only by ROM type. This will make downloading Off-the-Shelf maps easier and allow us to more efficiently integrate new ROMs as well as manage the online map database when maps are upreved. We have also identified an issue which is causing some vehicles with the MSD80 ECU and manual transmission to go into limp mode. A load limitation was discovered and has been removed. Please be aware that the map consolidation involves map structure changes. To resolve this issue, users will have to complete the following steps: Completely Uninstall of AccessPORT, update the firmware, and then reinstall the AccessPORT. This will automatically install a new map on the ECU. Implementing these important updates on the AccessPORT has temporarily delayed integration of new ROMs submitted by customers with the Unrecognized Vehicle message. We are sorry for the inconvenience this has caused and can appreciate the frustration felt by those that purchased the AccessPORT and are unable to use it. We are committed to having all of the dumped ROMs we have received to date integrated into the firmware by Monday, 01/31/11. Please note that your 30 day satisfaction guarantee will not include the time spent waiting for your BMW to be supported due to the Unrecognized Vehicle message. We want you to have a full 30 days to evaluate the performance and functionality the AccessPORT brings to your BMW N54. |

Friday's update will include the map consolidation and the load limit fix that was causing the limp-mode issue on some cars. By Monday we will roll out support for all of the ROMs that we have received to date. Again, we apologize for the waiting that some of you have had to endure. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

IIRC, the previous maps had slightly less hp. for the 6AT, are you saying these transmissions will now have the same load targets as the 6MT, or that the ROM type pre-determines this?

I think he's saying the AP will now automatically choose the correct (sub)-rom for your car. It's actually in one rom, probably bigger in size but the end user doesn't have to choose AT or MT. You just download the latest one and you are set.

I just wanted to publicly thank Rob for all of his help regarding the limp issues on earlier MSD80 MT vehicles.
This man drove six hours from TX to Louisiana, showed up personally at my front door, offered to buy me lunch, proceeded to spend six hours working on the car, and then drove six hours back all in the same day. Ridiculous. |

I think that 2007's should be thankful that 2008+ people are kind and eager enough to be Beta testing for them. When 2007 support is announced, our chances of having an unsupported ROM will be much lower, plus some obvious tune bugs will be already worked out.
What's the point of getting official 2007 AP support, but still having to wait for your ROM version to be integrated into AP firmware. Just chill and enjoy a more thoroughly tested product when it's finally available. |

+1... See how it's annoying ***335i***... Just like you were annoying with every other thread talking about the procede..
It's good that COBB is doing what they are doing with the '08-10 models and getting you guys more and more maps and updates to the firmware. '07 models I'm sure are next on the agenda... It's us N55 models that are going to be waiting a god awful time... BUT all in due time..

Looks like it's already out there.
http://cobbtuning.com/products/?id=5833 Note: It appears the center table of maps on the Calibrations page won't scroll in FireFox. That table is displayed and scrolls correctly in IE. |
