Software Update for Wastegate Rattle

So I just received the software update for wastegate rattle. I noticed that I still have the rattle ONLY after cold starts. I can hear it at idle and if I rev the engine. After ~30 seconds, the rattle goes away completely. Has anyone else noticed this? I have read many posts where people say it doesn't get rid of the rattle at all, but that does not seem to be the case here. I also have a feeling if I bring it back to the dealer, they will just say "it goes away" and that will be that (they have done this before). Warranty is almost up and I would like this resolved.

On another note, I have not noticed any significant power loss with the new update.

The software update only made mine rattle at cold start just like you described. After that, the dealer did the whole "could not reproduce" crap that they like to do. I was also near the end of my warranty. They claimed their was no issue until I was expired and then (just 1K miles after my warranty expired) they said my turbos needed to be replaced when I brought it in for the same thing.

BMW was not interested in a good faith repair -- they wouldn't even hear me out. Luckily my aftermarket warranty covered the $4100 repair or I would likely be taking legal action against BMW.

after i got software update and it was doing the 30 second thing i got them to put new turbos and wastegates on then i had them revert wastegate operation to old setting because the loss of power was absurd, now i still have the 30 seconds of wastegate rattle and by the time the left exhaust valve opens up the wastegate rattle has dissipated and i have all the power back and new turbos

Had the Wastegate rattle on mine for a little. Took it to the dealership and my SA said their standard practice of fixing this problem is to replace the whole Turbo System being it is one unit. So 4 days later, new Turbos, Wastegates, Piping, Software, etc. Warranty FTW!

wow...sucks that dealers can't be consistent on the same issues.

Yes, seriously. I find it so aggravating how each dealership will tell different things to people.
