How to remove center console storage

I'm in the process of wrapping my center console on my e92 non I drive. I got the ashtray out but can seem to figure out how to remove the piece in the picture. I searched through the DIY and couldn't find out how. Could someone point me in the right direction?? Thanx....

These clips are on tips as hell, and I'm tired of breaking them.

Aren't those clips holding it in on each end? Looks like you should be able to pry those back to release the tray.

There a slight lip on the inner tray if you push just enough it releases it from the clips. the clips aren't meant to move. lol Now trying to figure out how to pull the ashtray lid off the ashtray. I say the DIY but he doesn't tell you how to get to the clips holding lid....

Can you please provide a little more details on how you took the tray out perhaps by using the pictures you have posted with some arrows, thanks.

Trying to do this now but I have no idea how to remove the tray with breaking all the clips. Any insight?
