Permanent water spots on glass

Must be acid rain or something. On all windows/windshield. Small areas, not noticable unless you're very close, but annoying.

Any good over-the-counter products? I know vinegar or isopropyl alcohol may work, but if someone could recommend a specific product (that they have experience with) I'd appreciate it.

I've looked everywhere online, including DetailersClub.com, Autogeek.com, and properautocare.com. I know I'm not supposed to use an abrasive polish, but all products I've found seem to have some abrasive properties.

If anyone has experience with Meguiar's M47 Hard Water Spot Remover, Duragloss Nu-Glass Water Spot Remover, Spot-X Hard Water Stain & Spot Remover (someone reported that this scratches), or One Grand Paste Glass Cleaner M23P, please chime in.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

I know its not what you're looking for, but in the mean time, if you search my previous posts or use you'll find a thread I started about water spots on my car(paint). In that thread, someone asked about REALLY bad water spots on their glass. I'm almost positive there was a solution in that thread.

Good luck

Found it : http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39367

I believe it was Oneshare that asked the question on the first page of the thead

It was me!!

Yea Picus really is the master when It comes to stuff like this! He has helped me Several times! Anything to do about paint or cleaning he has the answers! What I used first was ALOT of quick detailer, and alittle clay, just to make sure it was clean! Then cranked up the PC and some klasse all in one! and went at it! Took it right out! I still have alittle in the corners of the glass because I could angle the PC in there! The AIO and a PC takes them out no problem! Picus also has mentioned in a bunch of thread the Alcohol and water (50/50 mix) and vinegar really are safe to use on a car!

I swear I spent hours going through old e90post posts. I searched 'window', 'etch', 'glass', and 'spot', and I didn't find that thread.

Thanks!

Although I wanted to avoid buying the PC, it seems that may be the best option, with some Klasse AIO.

I'll keep searching!

Edit: I wonder if Picus would travel to TN for detailing...

I used 00000 steel wool on a wet (with windex) windshield once. It worked great but it wasn't on a BMW. So be real careful if you try it.

That 0000 steel wool is often recommended, but someone pointed out that it may cause clouding with repeated use. Using steel wool, no matter how soft it is, would make me nervous. It seems auto glass these days is a lot softer than it used to be.

The one time i got nasty water spots i used glass stove top cleaner and it worked! just don't get it on your paint or it's done for. I had water spots on my tC for maybe the first 3 months from some stupid sprinklers and i thought i had tried everything but this is magical! it's pretty cheap too

I think I saw a post (may have been from picus ) suggesting
a solution of water + vinegar to tackle the water spots.
