Dyno Day - Surrey Rolling Road - 7th May
It's been nearly 3 yrs since we last had a forum dyno day, so I thought it might be a good idea to see if there was an interest in doing another.
Our last event back in 2008 is covered here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...=judgement+day Surrey Rolling Road: http://www.surreyrollingroad.co.uk/ With quite a few new members and some having remaps/ tuning boxes, it is an ideal opportunity to see what power your putting out, alternatively you might just be interested in finding out if BMW are there or thereabouts with their claims on the power outputs of your cars. Anyway the deal: £35.00 per car based on a minimum of 10 cars. (Maximum of 25 cars) You'll get a printout of your graph, and I'll make sure tea & coffee will be laid on, and perhaps a bacon roll or two. Other marques are of course welcome,Mercs,GTR's,Porsche's and it would be great to see a Maserati, if only for the sheer presence and aural pleasure Any takers, I'll start: 1. Hotcoupe - 335D Chaps owing to a mix up over dates, the event will now be brought forward 1 Week to the 7th May, I hope this does not inconvenience anyone, if so please advise on the thread, thanks Update. Start time: 10.00 am.Parking & General arrangements: Only five cars at a time are to be located at or near Charlie's, the remainder are to be left in the car park. Once you have had your car dynoed please take you car back to the carpark, and return to Charlie's by shanksies, or if you are not staying then thanks for coming & bye Location: On the link below it shows SRR and the car park. As you enter through the manned barrier, the car park is on your left, if we all meet there at or around 10.00 am the first five cars can drive across to the location http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&...14613&t=h&z=17 SRR: http://www.surreyrollingroad.co.uk/ Duration: Each car will be on the rollers for approx 15mins. Refreshments: Tea & Coffee will be available, if anyone wants something else (Coke/soft drinks etc) than please let me know & I'll see what I can do. (No alcohol, bring your feckin own!) I'll see what we can arrange in terms of bacon/sausage/egg rolls/baguettes nearer the day. Vegetarian options are of course available - the woods, along with some grassy knolls are very, very nearby! Payment: Cash or Cards (not playing) Proposed running order (To date): Note: I've tried to do the order based on requests and distances travelled to SRR and back home, if someone wants to get in earlier, take my place, I'll be there for the duration. 1. Antman - M3 2. m1bjr (Steve) - 335i 3. Newmanman - 335i 4. Hotcoupe - 335D 5. Biscuits - Z4M GHD Special 6. JLR1969 - SLK 55 AMG 7. Zltm089 - 335i 8. Magic77 - 320D 9. Ed - M3 There are currently 9 runners and we need 10 to get the sessions for £35.00,less than 10 runners and it's £40.00 (still a bargain ) Based on the latest odds at William Hill's, Kev (Zltm089) will be a non starter as he'll pull at the last moment , so realistically we are down to 8 runners at present. If anyone wants to dip out at any point, please update the thread. A fiver is a fiver to Ed, Antman & Jon, and represents 5-10 mls of motoring pleasure Last edited by Hotcoupe; 03-28-2011 at 01:19 PM.. Reason: Change of date |

Hah! 155 was about right pre-map but I know on good authority it's been rollered at 207 and 212... Just don't see the point paying to confirm that for a third time

I'd want a definite answer. Besides either of those two figures seems way too optimistic and you know it. I and the forum demand the truth Dave (No I won't pay ) |

I found the lads at SRR pretty pleasant and good fun, went there recently with PN crowd.
But the place is a mess, you wouldnt eat, or take a dump there tbh. Ever consider somewhere like TDI in Bluewater? They have invested hundreds of thousands in an accurate hub dyno and the facilities and knowledge are the best I have seen. If you want to talk tech or race, these are formally qualified and experienced engineers. And also nice guys http://www.tdi-plc.com/index.php Regarding comparisons, SRR run in Dyno Dynamics 'shootout' mode, but compensation is added for FR/RR TT or whatever hardware is on the roller. This is a manual selection by the operator. Steve

Shuddap.
Ian... Every RR is different as well you know. Hence the discrepancy. Surrey RR would just give me a third number. So I'll pass. Stop trying to goad me I'll still turn up for the day though

Cheers for that Steve! I'd agree with you about the facilities, there not ideal, however in some ways thats what makes SRR a great venue. There is no grandeur and no crazy H&S implications, whilst safety is of course important, it's more about individual responsibility and common sense that prevails at SRR and that makes it more of a fun time IMO. The runners at SRR can be as involved with the process as much as they please, there are no 'Please stand behind the barriers' posters, no glass screens with comfy chairs with Wi-Fi access. With SRR you get total involvement from the getgo, you get an accurate readout with an accompanying printout,in a nutshell you get what's on the tin. Charlie's also a great laugh, is mostly a BMW enthusiast and knows his stuff as well as the next Guy IMO The day is about meeting other forum members, getting your result and having a laugh. The bacon rolls will be brought in and not cooked on someones manifold Fair enough Dave, yer still a wuss and a tightwad with Scottish blood, I'll leave out the colour of your hair and your fetish for Armco |

Only a small, short fused, angry, still adolescent part of me is Scottish. And fortunately the blood that fuels that side is atleast 3 generations diluted... So it barely counts by now

Ian, I may come down and say hi. I won't run the mini as it will not have enough power to turn the rolling road.

Good man Steve,I'll bring 'The Sun' for the wipe down It would be good to see you Pete, and I think you're downplaying the Mini. I'd heard they leave 335d's for dead, but it's best we keep that quiet! |
