Cat ineficiency codes (10740 & 10741) after software update
So I have V5 and AR Design Catted DPs. Never seen these codes before now had these mods over 2yrs.
Recently had software update after my second HPFP replacement and new injectors. Seems the latest BMW software may have something to do with this. The codes ref manual suggest lower the 02 modifier value (lowered to 80%). What I am wondering is I am coming up for VA Emissions testing in 2 months. I am going to pass or do I have to swap stock DPs on again? What a PITA!!! These codes now show up even on valet map. Must be the new software update. Anyone know anything about this? I have turn on CANclear on since they just keep popping up. Aaaaargh!

That really sucks! So are you saying reversing that update would allow me to pass emissions? I should have waited! Is there no way for the PROCede to do both? I think loosing good features such as this is a bad thing. Do we really need this compromise, or is there some way to have those o2 wires in there and still achieve whatever it is the update achieves?

Is there really any need to even do that update? I don't see what is to gain. Unless it is affecting the car negatively, I'll just reverse it and leave it alone. Maybe Shiv can come up with another way of having our cake and eat it too. We can hope?

Did you ever come up with a solution for this? Just installed c-pe pipes and I got these inefficiency codes.

Good luck dude, looks like our only reasonable choice is buy the BMS DP fix and wire it in for a permanent fix. This is one feature PROCede had that I regret they took away. I need to buy the BMS DP fix as I am already past due for the emissions test. I hear the harness update is needed for better A/F control. I have the old harness where the wires are same color and I am sure to F-up trying to reverse things need a Permanent fix to this so I don't ever have to bother with it. I should pass emissions with the fix since I have Catted pipes and have the secondary stock cats still in.

Whoa. I missed that part. You have CATTED dps? Hmm, this sounds like it may be an inefficiency with the cats in the dps. I've always heard that catted dp's will quickly wear. I guess this is a case of that.

No man definitely not a case of wear. It started happening as soon as I got software updated by BMW. Unless AR Catted DPs are total crap I don't think they'd go that fast. Barely 5K miles on them.
Hey Mike@N54Tuning, gotta ask if BMS DP Fix is set to max and installed would that just do the trick? Just got the one I bought from you today, looking for someone to help me install it since I have a PROCede installed in the car the instructions wont match. Guys I am in DC Metro and will pay $$ to have it installed right. I need to smog test this weekend.

Keep in mind whether u run catted or cat-less downpipes..chances are that at some point u will get cat lean/rich codes..either use ur piggys
or get the BMS O2 simm to prevent them from coming back |

My cp-e downpipes are catted too. I went catted because I wanted to avoid these codes. *sigh* I saw some rumblings that the next release of Cobb will hide/ignore the downpipe related codes.

yup PROCede hides (deletes) them too, only problem is readiness is not achieved with CANclear on, so you can't smog test. Now you turn it back to valet and CANclear off, you can achieve readiness for smog test, but you will fail anyway as long as these codes are popping up. Bottomline there is no easy solution to this it seems. And codes free DPs is a red helling.
If I had known what I know now, I might have forgone the DPs. All I want is a set and forget trouble-free mod. Now I have to deal with this crap every 2yrs. I bought the DPs, so I am certainly not willing to go back to stock unless the DPs are damaged which they are not. Swaping them for smog testing is expensive and IMO not really good because the more they get installed and removed, something is going to break sooner or later cost you more $$$.

This is why i was sayin going catless made more sense b/c u would prolly face the emissions issues w the catted ...minus the power gains from catless

I see your point man. Many of us got into catted pipes partly because we didn't have to worry about emissions and swapping DPs, but it may have been wrong assumption. Once I get this DP fix installed I'll report back if it passes emissions or not. It would appear the newer BMW software is a lot more sensitive to these DP mods though.

i've run the bms V3 o2 and no issues. I ran this with JB3, Procede and stock. With procede i shut off canclear. To me, i didn't like the solution to simply clear as we drove. I had it hardwired in on the actual car wiring and as i swapped tunes or pulled them out, i left the o2 fix in and no issues. I had the CP-E catted pipes, then went to catless and haven't touched the v3 fix and no codes and i pass the obd readiness check with flying colors. (In Van, BC, canada we have AIRCARE which is basically emissions testing. Even though i didn't need it, i drove through just to see. No problems.

oh, and i just had my car in for the latest hpfp recall replacement. I left procede and the BMS dp fix in. Set the procede on valet mode and the dealer had no issues updating my software, calibrating the injectors etc. Car came back, again, without check engine lights!

I should also mention, if you guys are planning on getting the o2 dp fix, get the V3 ones. The older ones DO NOT WORK. I know as i had them before. It use to work but then, 'worky' no more...
