How to get rid of this roof stain??
Hey guys, so about a couple months ago in the dead of winter I parked underneath a tree and when I came out, I saw the stain that I'm attaching below...
I took the car to a carwash, thinking it was just some dirty water that was on top of my roof, but it wouldn't come out! I had them try to get it out by hand with some polish, but didn't work... it made it a LITTLE better, but not much. The picture below is what is still left... When you run your fingernail over it, it feels like very very fine sandpaper, and i can't scratch it off at all... Any ideas on what this is and how I can remove it?

Sandpaper feel as in bubbled up? I would hope the clear did not fail, I would try claying it then a polish and wax/seal. You alternatively could try a dilution of Isopropyl alcohol of about 4:1 for 70% alcohol and see if that budges the built up stuff but be careful not to let the alcohol dwell for any length of time as it could affect the clear. I'd clay and polish even after the alcohol if it were me though.
Did your attempt by hand even budge the stuff IE spread it around some? |

We tried polish, but it only removed some of the stuff... I can try the isopropyl alcohol and/or clay... see if that would help... but this stuff doesn't seem like it's sitting on top of the paint... like there's no "edge" i can feel with my fingernail when I go from good paint to this crap...

Wow that really sounds like the clear failed from whatever sat on it. I'd take it to a pro for look before I'd put anything on it as you don't want the clear to continue to fail or be accelerated by using something else. That sucks.
