Methanol Issue

Hello all, I have a quick dilema regarding my methanol.

As some of you know, I had ER's charge pipe with TIAL blow off valve for the last 8 months or so. I did not like the design because the meth bung was too close to the BOV and it would leak a little amount of methanol after each shift. However, I did feel a considerable difference (seat of the pants) and whenever I would touch the charge pipe it would be icy to the touch.

Long story short, I received my new charge with improved meth bung (more towards the elbow of the charge pipe) last week. It was installed Friday and to this day, the car has been seeming a little sluggish. The car seemed a little slugish on the way to the LTBMW meet as well. This car is still fast, but I can tell that something is different.

Fast forward to today when i finally had a spare couple minutes to push my car hard on some back roads in SB, I noticed the car was abnormally slugish (in the straights that is). I returned home, pop'd my hood, and found my charge pipe to be blistering hot. WTF? I really have no idea what could have changed. I will most likely be taking the car back to HPA to see if they have a solution but it is completely bewildering to me. And meth is being used from the tank, so I don't know wtf is going on.

Anyone have any ideas? Could the sprayer be clogged? But if so, the meth would not be running through the line. Perhaps a leak? I have no idea to test that. Any suggestions would help. Thanks so much.

~Mike

Do you have a flow sensor or anyway to log meth flow?

You dont have a flow sensor or failsafe installed, a Led indicator that the meth pump is activated??...Can you log IATs to see if indeed the meth is being injected...If it is you should be able to log significant drop in IATs, if not then there is a problem with the flow and your setup

I have the snow performance stage 2, so no interior flow sensor.

Good idea on logging the AITs. I will start there I think.

Do you have clear tubing? Is their air in the lines(bubbles)?

Can you prime the system? Do you hear the pump kicking on?

Leaks?

Check inlet and outlet for clogs.

Check Checkvalve or solenoid for clogs.

Check nozzle filter for clogs.

Thats all it could be.

Hook up a led light in the cabin area somewhere (you decide) to the power wire of the pump....Its pretty simple...hook the red wire to the power wire of pump and the white wire to a ground, and presto you have an indicator when the pump is on and activated....

that light doesn't do jack shit if his check valve is stuck or his solenoid took a shit, or if he developed a leak or clog of some sort. All that light does is tell you the pump is on. Do it right; get a flow sensor. I personally recommend the Snow Performance unit
