Got HPFP and spark plugs done at dealer, expensive!
So spark plugs are freakin $460 to change at the dealer! I know I can easily do it myself but knowing how BMW is anal with thier warranty and I have a CPO car I didnt want to chance it (my maintainance plan just ran out too) Sorry just had to vent but on a side note the car seems to be pulling much harder stock now! I threw some VANOS codes with my JB+ and they only touched the HPFP so I'm figuring I will get the VANOS codes sometime soon and have to pay $50 deductible again. Anyone else have this issue with having the pay the 50 every time you take it in when they aren't fixing the actual problem?

Sorry but you just wasted $400. To risk what ? Do you think the dealer may take fingerprints from the sparkplugs next time you will service the car ? The spark plugs cost $60 shipping included, and if someone could not change the sparkplugs he should not be allowed to own the car.

Well when I had a Porsche boxster S I had an aftermarket warranty and blew the motor and lost the court case becasue the warranty company effed saying I was racing and I wasn't which I proved but I digress. So long story short I lost 23K in that warranty shituation so not taking any chances anymore. But you are probably right

Do your own spark plugs next time. It will take you about 45 minutes the first time and 30 minutes the 2nd time. Its all good. You live and you learn. And I might have done the same thing if I had gone through what you had.

+1 I can't see how they would come up with $460 Spark Plugs--firgure $100 Labor x 1 hour MAX $150 Total for that is $250 OP-if that's really all you got, I would go back there and complain. |

Spark plug change on this car is by far the easiest change of any car I have ever had. If it takes you more than 30 mins you are doing something wrong.
Got the spark plug socket from ECS. |

So it was $460 total so that probably included the $50 deductible. I was on the HPFP recall list so they just changed it and was thinking that was causing the problem but when I read rodes from my BT cable it had VANOS codes, has nothing to do with HPFP right? I've had the VANOS outlet codes more than once.
The warranty company was Great Lakes Warranty, bigges thieves of the world! I have a inch binder PROVING I was not racing and did not over rev my engine by sending the DME in to get read ect. I had a lawyer and everything but the abritation bw great lakes and BBB was a whole scam! Makes me want to puke just thinking about it, they just don't want to pay anything. Google it and you will see. Can anyone chime in on having to pay the $50 deductible if a reoccurring problem keeps making you having to take it in? |

If you read 3 posts up I answered it No HPFP is free for everyone if you are on the recall list and free if it goes bad up to 100K.

I'd strongly suggest you and anyone on the forum who wants to work with their car to get the bentley manual owner for 3 series, that book got TONS of shit to learn and understand and DIY about n54.

22 x 6 x 1.09 (tax) = $143.88 1.5/2.0 x $150/hr = $225.00-$300.00 Total = $368.00-$443.88 Can you DIY cheaper? Of course... was he ripped off compared to other dealer prices?... not really. |
