heat issue???
Hey guys pretty new here and just started modding my 07 335. last month I put on the jb4 with no issues and running map 1 which raises the boost a little. Yesterday I did an afe intake and cpe/tial bov and it seemed like after I installed it and drove the car the temps went up about 20 degrees??? I dont really remember what they were before but now it is like 230-240. I am pretty sure it was running at 220 or less before. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

maybe it's hotter in LA recently than it was a month ago? Or maybe now you run your car harder to hear all the glorious noises your intake/bov make? Or maybe you did a couple of hard pulls, which will raise your engine temp higher than if you were just cruising?
it's hard to point to one factor without holding everything else constant. but 230-240 is well within the n54's normal operating temperature, especially in warm/hot weather. So I don't really think you have much to worry about here. |

240 is right in the middle and 100% normal. when you get close to 300 thats when the ECU starts complaining and will put the car in limp mode before you can damage anything. nothing to worry about.

BMW power pack includes an extra radiator and cooling pieces but that's part of the package. MR 5 was toying with retrofitting just the cooling bits but not sure how far or what success he's had with so I defer to him. At one time I thought I remember AMS bringing an upgraded radiator to the platform but have not seen that either so hit either of those two sources up. BTW the temps you are referring to on the gauge cluster are oil temps which I assume you knew so to get cooling temps to read out you'd need the performance wheel or be data logging and displaying which your JB can do for you.

The temperature you seeing is not your coolant temp, it is your oil temp. You don't need any radiator/fan upgrade. That is why you can't find any because they are not necessary for daily driving. The stock ones are effective. If you plan on tracking your car, you may consider upgrading your oil cooler (assuming you have the stock one install). If you don't have a stock oil cooler, and you are seeing oil temps consistantly around 270 or above, then you probably want to consider buying one if you plan on pushing the car.

What you're seeing is not excessive... and probably you're pushing your car harder
