Catless Downpipes Question
So I got my iCarbon downpipes installed last week and there is an excessive amount of smoke coming out of the exhaust when I come to a stop. With the windows rolled down, there is a white/light grey smoke that comes in the car.
Now, I know that there is a fume associated with catless downpipes which doesn't bother me at all I just wanted to know if this is normal with catless DP's. Is there a break-in period for the DP's? The car isn't losing boost and still pulls pretty hard so I am not sure if there is a leak or not. Also, I'm running the newest maps on the Procede with autotune enabled. Any help would be appreciated. Here's a quick vid of the smoke. It's a little more exaggerated when I come to a full stop Last edited by LAKESHOW; 04-12-2011 at 10:43 PM.. |

^yeah, I know there's a smoke and smell associated with no cats but when I come to a stoplight there's a giant thing of smoke that just comes to the front of the car. I talked to quite a few people that run without cats and this doesn't seem to be normal...

33,000 miles. Mods: DCI Intake, Procede V5, Custom Exhaust, and the iCarbon DP's. This doesn't happen so much when I drive spirited but rather when I come close to a stop. When I'm at a stoplight, there's just soo much smoke that comes to the windows. Also, there's some wastegate rattle when I come close to a complete stop.

I had same issue when I installed my catless dps, I coulnd find the problem so I went back to catted and the problem has gone. Im afraid its something related with the oxyger sensors but im not pretty sure of it.
Same story about the WG rattle, pretty loud, but At that moment I didny had my procede V5 installed; try lowering down the value in the user adjustable values, do it from 90 to 80, 70, 60, until 30, the rattle muat desapear at some point in between... Good Luck, let us now if you find out the fix for the white smoke... |

Same symptoms. At a stop randomly plume of white smoke. I think it has to do with the wg rattle.

I have AR catted DPs, no smoke. A friend has catless, smoke is present. I have 27K miles but he has about 42K miles. I doubt it is mileage probably normal when you go catless. His car smells of half burned gas, but smell seems to be only noticeable when he is not moving in traffic. The sewing machine rattle racket the engine makes though sounds pretty bad.

He would get smoke in the engine bay too if thats the case. Never know though. Get under your car and check your rear turbo since it looks like your passanger side exhaust is smoking, if that baby is smoking then you got a seal issue.
