Track My Order?

On BMW USA's site, I see the "track my order," which still shows it as being "on order." OK, fine. Is this all the information I'll have (just these 5 steps) and that's it or will more options open up? For example, when "Start of Production" is available, will I be able to break that further down to see what they are working on?

Also, anyone know what that broken image will be above the status? My CA told me I could see videos of my actual vehicle being painted. Is that the placeholder for where it will be?

Getting anxious and the car is still on order. It's going to be a long wait.

My 335i on order has been sitting at the Production Finished step for a few weeks now. I have no idea when it's getting on a ship.

What I'm wondering is do cars ship out earlier than mine even if they're ordered later and finished production later? If so that's incredibly unfair.

OK, the broken image should be a picture of your car....you will not see any video of your car being made unless it is an X made in the USA plant.

My car is on a ship now in the middle of the Atlantic....I ordered it on 2/17. I should have it around the end of the month.

Your car might take a week or two to go into production. Around 5-8 days to build.

Then around 3 weeks to ship.

Your CA can tell you every detail of where and what your car is doing.

Unfortunately since your car is being shipped to west coast, Port Hueneme, the whole process takes a little longer. Could be wrong but I think there are less boats which leave from Bremerhaven to Port Hueneme in CA. Plus it takes a little longer overall to ship a car from Bremerhaven to Port Hueneme, because it has to route around Panama (Plus the obvious fact that it is farther.)

So yes, someone can order later and finish production later but leave earlier, it's very possible if it is east coast delivery vs west coast delivery. Next WW boat leaves next week saturday on the 23rd. Not sure about NYK line.

Ah, damn. Too bad about the video feed only being for the X-series. Oh, well. Still cool there is even a site. My Rubicon did not have any web site at all. I had to basically nag my CA.

Thanks for the details, very informative. Not too bad of a schedule, really. Enjoy your car when it arrives!

How does this work if it's Euro Delivery? Will it stop after Step 2? And then steps 3 through 5 would update after the car has been dropped off at the port for transport to the US?

Lots more information available from other sources (not the BMW website), including the shipping company that transports your car overseas, webcams along the way, ship trackign sites, and BMWs 800 number. Here's a post I did on my obsessive order tracking, from factory to driveway (on some other not to be named site):

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=536197

Hint. If you want to annoy your dealer, call them every three days (once your car is in production) and ask them to email you the latest VIR (Vehicle Inquiry Report).

Thanks for the info! I'm going to look into this now. My car finished production and will be shipping soon, I hope.
