New member, new car

Hi, just bought my first BMW and signed up to this forum. I picked up a 2007 E90 318D M-Sport and I've already carried out my first modification! I fitted some gloss black kidney grills to match the gloss trims around the windows etc. 2 weeks into ownership and I'm very impressed, should've bought one years ago instead of messing about with a very unreliable Audi A4

I'm currently trying to work out how to sneak a set of 19's onto it without the (soon to be) wife noticing and throwing the "there's a wedding to pay for" card on the table!

You could always say the car might last longer than the marriage and you're just hedging your bets.

Only kidding.

Nice car. A remap is always a good option and definately not something your other half will notice

I like those black grills. Wish I could do something like that to mine. But it's a lease car.

Enjoy your purchase and welcome to the forum

Being a lease car doesn't stop you doing cosmetic mods, as long as you put it back to stock again when it is returned

My past few cars have been leased Inc the current M3, all have been modded Inc wheels, grilles, etc.

Just keep all the bits you remove safe and sound and then re-sell all the mods when you have finished with em!

How you finding the 18d ?
Did you test and compare against a 20d ? Does anyone know the STD hp of the 18d and the tuneable benefits versus STD and tuneable for the 20d ?

Reason being I am looking to change the wife's 1 series m sport and fancy getting her a saloon or touring m sport Business Edition, to ensure there are some toys (used).....

I have seen a couple but to be honest have thus far ruled out because they are 18d's !!

Guess I should have a drive but can't find the time at present,,,,

Any comparisons or testimonials from current 18d owners welcome,,

Cheers

Cr55, I'm very happy with the 318d. It pulls fine and dosen't feel under powered. It is possible to get tuning boxes for them although I have not looked into hits in any depth(There is a thread form DP tuning somewhere in this forum). It was never really about the power for me, I've had various hot hatches and coupes over the years, I was looking for a stylish and economic car to do the 60 mile daily commute so I focused on getting the right colour and spec! It feels great on the motorway (80% of my commute) and will pick it's feet up if necessary on the back roads.
Hope this helps

I have a 318d too and its fine for me. However coming from a vw golf gt tdi 130 it does feel a little less torquey...

I'm sure the 320d is quicker but I just wanted a good umolested m sport and it just happens it was a 18d.
