hi guys, this is my first time owning a BMW, as well as first time posting on this website, congratz to those who received their orders, i am still patiently waiting for my 335i coupe SG, placed my order on Dec2, still haven't got any updates from the SA
a few questions that i want to ask as a newbie BMW owner: factory break in or hard break in? i read a few threads that have different opinions i am very interested in FRONT AERO LIP, PROCEDE and BOV, any suggestions on pricing and installation details? (especially for BOV, is it bad for the car?) i will appreciate all your suggestions and opinions, thank you very much! ![]() |

Welcome to the forum. If you search for break-in on this site, you'll get a ton of posts. To summarize, the majority believe that sticking to the 2000km (1200 mile) break-in suggested in the owner's manual is the way to go. So, no revving over 4500rpm, no pedal to the metal, and no long drives at a sustained rpm level (varying the rpms is preferred).
However, you do get those who argue that it doesn't matter what you do, especially if you're leasing (i.e., why care about the long-term health of the engine if it's a short-term relationship). I'll defer to others for your other questions.

Heya. Here is so info on the aero lip. Dealer cost is (afaik) $450 CAD, so the best price I have seen is $450+$22 for adhesive. There is also a GB currently running for one (not sure of details).
BOV is not bad for the car, I personally hate them, but it's your ride. ![]() Don't let the dealer prep your car. ![]() See you at the meets. |
