i need opinion on Exhaust and Intake

hi all,

im 28 years old from Montreal.

First i would like to apoligize for my poor english, We speak french in here.

i just got my new bimmer today 335xi 2007 Sport/Premium

my first bimmer was a E46 325i executive package with no mods, so im really new to mod on bimmers

The mods that i am planning for this summer are =

- INJEN SHORT RAM AIR INTAKE ( the one with dual filters ) 450$

- HKS STAINLESS STEEL EXHAUST SYSTEM 799$

- JB+ 199$

- Coilovers - not decided yet, want suggestions ( i had h&r sport coilovers on an A6 2.7t) i dont know what better for the 335xi ( budget of max. 1200$ )

Now i dont know where to start first?

im thinking

intake,exhaust,jb,coilovers?

and are the prices okay?

i really need to know if im on the right directions...

Thanks for helping me to sort this out

Cheers!

Go with the tune first and get a JB4, Procede or Cobb AP. Skip the JB+ as it is outdated and does not give as much HP as the others I listed.

I believe the HKS exhaust is about $1600 for the full exhaust, but it makes the most power out of all the bolt on exhaust systems.

You can wait on the intake until you have more mods as I believe the dual cone intakes can suck a lot of hot air and are a trade off at best.

Main thing to do is really learn the car's power, braking and handling FIRST, then looking doing mods in an educated manor. My .02$

I'd skip the intake or just go with a DCI, no need to spend $450. Forget the JB+ and pick something else. The ones mentioned above are a good start, there is tons of info on tunes, do your research and pick what's best for you. I'd also say skip the exhaust and just get a good set of downpipes, will enhance the sound and provide way more power than the HKS would. Seems like with your budget the KW v1s would be your best bet for coilovers unless you can find some used v2s or bilsteins.

^ good advice....

the one thing I left out....nothing wrong going with slightly used parts.....I have purchased some really good mods for my 335 off this forum (slightly used).

Like they said, save your $$ and get the dual cone intakes. IF you want to spend the money and get a true cold air intake I would get the Stett CAI. I would go with the Procede or Cobb for the tune. Exhaust is really all the same power, its really up to your ear to decide which one you like. If i could do it all over I would get downpipes b4 I got exhaust. There are a lot bigger gains to be had with the downpipes vs. exhaust. You will also save some money and get a nice throaty exhaust note with catless AR(there is no substitute) downpipes and the stock exhaust. I would love to have a fresh start at this, I would have saved A TON of $$. Ive had multiple intakes, exhausts, and tunes..

Thanks guys for all your opinions i think i will start with jb3 or 4 if i can find them used or buy a new one. Cobb seems too complicated for a beginner like me and out of budget..

i will definitly buy the HKS Exhaust since i found it so cheap

Did a BMW Perf. Exhaust first, only cause the car is still under warranty. Got a JB3 and DCI at the same time. Next I put on a set of KW Series 1, only cause I won't be tracking the car and don't need to adjust the coilovers. Very happy with the set up.

Cobb is way easier than really any other tune, you don't even use tools or pop your hood lol...

I agree with some, get Cobb AP, a good FMIC, some 3" catless downpipes, and maybe a drop-in filter (like Macht Schnell). I actually got the stage 1 intake which included scoops... can't hurt. I wouldn't trust the stock diverters to last long with the extra boost though, so I would upgrade that (forge DV's or Synapse/Tial BOV kit).

KW V1 and some good tires. Really, car is good to go at that point.

You will get CEL (check engine light) until the Cobb Stage 2 is out because of the catless DP's, but who cares and it causes no performance issue/s.

Welcome
