Is Volkswagen good?
My sister was asking me how VW rabbit was. She was planning to trade in her subaru for a VW rabbit, but she was not sure if it was a good pick. Although she personally believe German makes the best vehicle in the world, she doesnt want to cough up so much money for a bimmer or BenZ. as much as i know, due to some financial issue, VW no longer makes their vehicles in Germany, but in Belgium or South America. I dont know if it affects their products?
if you guys can give me some suggestion or idea, that will be fantastic. thank you all. |

They seem fine to me. My mom drives a Jetta TDI as a daily driver and loves it.

Hi
I think that most entry level VW's (Rabbits, Bugs, Jettas) are made in Mexico. I am not sure where the GTI is made. I bought a VW Jetta new in '96 manufactured in Mexico and it was a lemon however a lot of people really liked theirs (Every manufacturer has lemons even Lexus!). They are great cars however are not as reliable as their Japanese counterparts. If she is on a budget, would she consider the BMW CPO program and get a BMW 325i from 03 or so? I would much rather have a used BMW than a new Rabbit or Civic. Just a thought. Cheers |

my little sister's vw bug is
even the SA advised her to purchase the extended warranty...... and she said "no".....and that thing is a messed after 36,000 miles..... problems: check engine light, replace rear brakes/rotor twice(under 50,000 miles), interior lights out, radiator, etc. and the list goes on.....

Yes, I would vouche for VW. I personally like them a lot, and I love audi as well, and heck....lambo rocks. My brother has had a 2002 VW GTI and he loves it. He chipped it and that little sucker can pull pretty nicely. Hasn't had any problems with it except for couple electrical/light malfunctions which have all been taken care of swiftly by the dealer all under warranty. I was actually thinking about buying a rabbit as my "work-horse" vehicle so that I don't have to abuse my 335 that is being delivered in a couple of week, but decided to hold out and keep my Mazda3-S a little longer (2004 model with 76k miles on it and still going strong). If I were to buy another more fuel effecient car to replace my mazda 3 the VW rabbit is definitely at the top of my list. Good luck with your new purchase and enjoy!

New VW GTI is pretty nice car. The DSG Transmission on that thing is so smooth it's unreal. My previous car was a '01 GTI VR6, I had nothing but good things to say about it.

VW is another great company with outstanding products. Have a few friends that absolutely love theirs. Borrowed one from them when my 330ci was totalled and awaiting the 335i. Great vehicle. No issues here.

I've had a 01 Golf and traded it. Nice car for what I paid
01 Passat 1.8T - Turbo went out on me and a lot of other maintenance issues 03 Passat V6 - Good power, decent but ride was not fun. 2 out of 3 isn't bad. |

Ok i'll go against the grain here, tell her to stay with the subaru, much more reliable car. They just run and when they do need maintenance and repair they will not kill your pocket book like most cars out there. They are easy to work on, i had one before the 335i and it had 150k and the car just ran.

I have a 2000 Golf 2.0 and a 2003 Passat 1.8T and have been pleased with both of them. No major problems, and odds are that my next car will be a GTI.
However it can be hard finding a good VW dealer. |

My wife has a 2005.5 (mid year model change) VW Jetta, 2.5L. Has 32K on it. Not one problem.
What about the VW Eos (think that's what it's called). Nice little hardtop convertable.
