why do you need after market BOV to hold boost? Mine holds boost just fine with my stock DVs.

I've been told that overtime the stock dv's won't be able to hold boost any longer and will slowly start leaking. Especially on higher boost cars. I run 16 psi peak on my GIAC st2 and have no issues with the stock dv's so far.

1000's of people on this forum are running BOV's, just do a quick search. No they are not necessary, some like the sound and others (like me) have them for function. Stock DV's may or may not be the best for holding more than stock (8psi) boost, so you have 2 routes BOV's or Forge DV's.

Stock BOV's do not exist, they are called Diverter Valves (DV's). What he ment was on an AT you need to let off the gas for it to open (making the whoosh sound). On an MT the BOV opens on every shift....because you let off the gas. Again, if you are going for performance and function, it makes no difference if you get upgraded DV's or BOV's, just get a quality BOV like Synapse TiAL or HKS.

The stock charge pipe does not hold boost If you running 16 psi, ask me how I know. The BOV does not have any performance gain as stated by egt.

bov is for sound only, Diverter Valves (DV's) for performance

Good god some of you people need to get permission to post on technical forums.
If BOVs are not for performance, then why does ER and Berk's racecars use BOVs? Show me hard evidence that DVs perform better.

+1. 335 you're such an idiot. my Bov holds boost way better than stock DV's. I've also had aftermarket DV's but i like the sound of the BOV. Stop saying stupid shit you dont even understand.

Just to sum everything up. Only reason to change it on an auto, is because the stock is no longer working. If you are looking for sound, you are SOL, and will only get some of it. Auto's don't close there throttle plate during shifts so technically there is nothing to blow off. On an Manual the throttle plate closes during shifts so you need to get rid of that extra air so it doesn't go back through the turbo.
