JB4 Chip for 335i

I'm looking to get the JB4 chip for my 335i but I have a few questions.

1. How much does it cost and where can I get it?
2. I heard it is easy to install is this true?
3. Does it void warranty?
4. Will it changes in codes(or whatever the chip does exactly) show up when I'm at the BMW dealership and they put my key into their diagnostics device?
5. Has their been any problems with the JB4 chip?
6. Will it void the 10 year 120 km HFPP warranty on 335i's

Thanks for your help

Assuming you're in Canada, mike@n54tuning.com is your best choice!

Yes, it's easy -- but take your time & follow the intructions

3. Does it void warranty?
Only if they find it .. so remove before taking to the dealership for any work.

The JB4 can clear codes both automatically and manually

Other than the odd tiny bug in the software, no. Terry fixes problems very quickly. In terms of damaging the engine -- it's extremely rare; only those who have pushed the boundaries in terms of boost have damaged anything.. using the default map, you are very safe.

Obviously you will be working the turbos harder than stock; so there might be a slight long term turbo reliability issue; but unless you drive WOT 100% of the time, the difference in reliability versus stock is negligible.

Wow thanks for the detailed and informative reply! Really appreciate it. I checked the n54tuning website and they have the jb4 along with these options

Dual Cone Intake Addon
USB Cable for JB4

What do they do and do I need them if I have a 07 335i coupe?

No problem!

Both options are certainly worth it. The USB cable allows you to update the JB4 firmware without removing it (the USB cable can be routed through the ECU compartment into the glove compartment fairly easily). You can also use it for logging your car's performance.

The Dual Cones will add another 10 horsepower or so .. and you can really hear the turbo's spool... here is a quick audio recording I made from inside my car:

1.So just to confirm the JB4 doesn't show on on the dealers database when they plug my key in?

2. If so would I have to do the following Whenever I need to go in for service (under warranty) I take the jb4 chip out every time and when they put my key in they think it's stock still?

Check for codes before going in and pull the jb4 out and you should be good to go. Safer to remove it everytime.

HAppy to help

1. You can get it from me and its 479.00. If you are in the GTA I can do the install for you as well.

2. Its pretty easy to install. 45min for your first time and 15-30 the second time

3. Comes with code reading and clearing so you can wipe the codes and remove before warranty work and it won't leave a trace.

4. On map0 it is diagnostically invisible even if left in.

5. No problems and we have over a 1000 users now. (5000 if you include JB3 customers)

6. No

Mike
