AC not working?
I went out of town for a week and left the car parked in the garage. When I get back the AC was not working. It was completely fine before I left, but now for some reason the evaporator fan is not blowing at all. If I turn the speed up to MAX, I still won't feel anything coming from the vents. I changed the 3 fuses (5A, 10A, 40A) associated with the AC according to the little chart in the glove box, but still no luck. Any ideas? Anyone else have a similar experience?
Going to try to setup a service appt, but we will see how that goes considering I'm FBO.

Maybe the fan not blowing is a consequence of something else?
I suggest you have your AC system coolant level checked. For reference: My car is 3½ years old with ~53k miles on it and I just had my AC systems serviced a month ago. According to the sticker inside the hood, there should be 590 grams of coolant (gas) on the system, but there was only 235 grams left. My system however was working, but not cooling nearly as well as now. I had no leaks, so it was emptied and fully refilled. Now it cools a lot better. I asked what would have happened if I hadn't had the system serviced before all the coolant had gone, and I was told that the system would have seized to work alltogether. Hope that's not the case for you, but it is worth checking out I think.

The first things I would check are:
1. Does Compressor Clutch engage when A/C is turned on? 2. Does Radiator/Condenser fan turn on when A/C is turned on? 3. Any codes? 4. Buy a recharge kit with a pressure gage and check that. |
