Few questions from newbie owner of N54 335))

Hi fellows! Just bought 335i with N54 engine! It has only 10k miles on it and fully stock!

Just tell me main things I should know about this car! What things to look after first of all?! I'm asking about stock car, main points of maintenance!

And second question about mods! I wanna go for JB4, is it good choice? Want to get about 400hp and don't want to mod car very much! Just JB4 and downpipes, by the way, which manufacturer of them to choose or maybe just to cut cats and weld there straight pipes!?

Is it necessary to install intake mods?

Which map on JB4 I should use only on downpipes installed?

What about meth? Is it worth it? For example is it possible to run on downpipes, jb4 and meth only?

This board requires you to do a lot of your own reading, but you seem to be getting the gist of the start off mods. I have had my car for 3 months now and have added a JB4 and DCI's (Dual cone intakes). I plan on bypassing my cats and muffler next with electric cutouts. People preach about down pipes, but I have read a lot of stories about people hitting great numbers with the stock DP's. Meth is my next upgrade consideration and it apparently adds between 25-50 hp...for $500-$1000 that is a great upgrade. If you do the JB4, DCI, and Meth. You will reach your 400hp goal. Plus for safety the JB4 has a Map dedicated to working with Meth. Hope this was helpful.

There are also arguments that the stock air box is more consistent than the DCI's even though at times the DCI's outperform the stock...on some occasions the stock is better. I think mostly during the summer months due to heat soak. Even though I am also a newb and don't fully know what heat soak is.

I've heard the JB4's are a great investment! Good luck with your future mods. As for heat soaking: "Following a hot shutdown of a turbocharger, heat soak begins. This means that the heat in the head, exhaust manifold, and turbine housing finds it way to the turbo’s center housing, raising its temperature. These extreme temperatures in the center housing can result in oil coking."

meth is great for these cars... great. second best thing after a tune. will increase octane of your fuel, allow you to run HIGHER boost levels without knocking, AND will keep engine temps much cooler (no more heatsoak). and it does that much more effectively than any big front mount intercooler will. the n54 is very mod friendly, if you due a tune and catless downpipes you are probably going to eventually do a larger FMIC and meth as well. if you want to discuss tunes in specific like the differences between them and what not, get your post count up to 5 so you can send private messages, and pm me. just trying to save you from any tuner feuds. many of them are great but there are differences.. just tryin to help. enjoy your car.

First thing I would do is call the dealer and have them run the last six of your vin to see if you have gotten the recalls done yet they just fixed 4k dollars worth of stuff. I would make sure everything is working correctly, all fluids are clean, and you have decent breaks before you go modding the car. Yea you only have 10k miles on the car but how do you know if that was a little old lady or some guy that doesn't know how to drive or slammed on the breaks every five seconds. Make sure you can stop before you go adding more HP. Just my .02.
