AT 335i pistons to TDC?

Can't find any good info on how to get my AT 335i pistons to TDC for a valve cleaning. Do I just turn the crank by a nut? Where is the nut? Do I have to take the plugs out? Car in neutral? Any help would be great.

You can turn the crank with a wrench.
they way i did it, I unplugged the coils and taped the start button as if I were to start it. Don't hold in the button just a tap*
I don't recommend this method tho, but is what I did n worked...

Did you clean the valves as well? You method seems legit. Can anyone else chime in on this?

I've never done it on the N54, but on the Diesel generators I work on this is how we get it to TDC for tune up's. Just make sure it is relatively free spinning (it will be a little tough to turn) and go clockwise, if it doesnt turn over do not force it.

Just have someone tap the start button while you are looking at the way the crank pulley spins...this is the direction you want to turn the crank pulley.

Set parking brake, put the car in neutral, pull the spark plugs (it will ensure their is no compression in the cylinders), squirt some oil in the cylinders, and it should be relatively easy to turn...it was in my E34 with 2 more cylinders. Not sure if you can get to the crank bolt from above, if not you will probably need to put it up on jack stands or ramps to get at it from below.

Always turn it clock wise. Also tere will be multiple cylinders at or near TDC so you can do 2-4 cylinders at a time. Just take a good look in there and then clean away. It will reduce the amount of engine turn overs you need to get the job done and make it go much quicker. Having the engine hot will make the cleaning easy as well, FYI...

I just ended up hitting the start button and was lucky enough to get three ports shut at a time. I could not reach the bolt on the crank so this was the only method I was left with. If you do use the start button disconnect the electrical connector from the coils. Make sure area is clear of rags and other object that my suck into intake. That would make things very expensive.
