Interior LED, acting up

Hello all I recently bought an interior led light kit for my e90. Everything was going well until one day center lights front and rear would not turn on. What I mean by the center lights, the ones in between front and rear map lights. I kept pushing the button and nothing would happen. I had to remove the key fob from the slot and put it back in , in order to get all the lights to work again. My questions are, is this a coding issue, or did I hook something up wrong? BTW the interior light kit is from sonic tuning, no error.

I have the same problem. Sometimes mine will just turn off.

It was even worse before. My map lights would do the same thing. Then the vendor I bought from sent me some new map light bulbs and that fixed those. But he said he hasn't had that problem with the center ones.

I'm pretty sure it's the bulbs/connections themselves from my experience so far...

Interior kits dont throw error lights. They just error out and turn off. You may have simply blown a fuse. Have you tried installing your stock hardware to see if they light up? All interior lighting should be installed with the battery ground removed or at the very least interior lighting set to off.

Another common problem is the connection on the plug may be backwards or not hitting the contacts.

Ok I was wondering why it didnt appear to have reverse polarity. I tried both ways and they light up. I will switch them tonight. Thanks

You can also test the light on a 12V source and ground.

If you are still running into a problem we have some dome lights that will work for you. Not trying to pull any salesmen tactics just trying to help you out.

I installed the Bimmian interior ultimate LED kit almost a month ago and haven't had any problems at all. I accidentally even broke a clip on the front dome console causing a gap between the connection and had to fix it by bending the small metal clip that makes the connection. Gave me no problems at all after that. I didn't have to disconnect my battery either.

But then again, I did pay 200 bucks for the full kit, lol.

Would you be able to take a pictures of the LEDs? Would like to see what they are. If the LEDs are the CANBUS LED's then they should not throw any errors, flicker or turn off after 1 minute. Maybe you can even get away by simply adding a small resistor, instead of buying more LEDs.....

I will take the liberty of pulling the salesman tactics for Rob and Jeff here, as I speak from the experience of a fully satisfied customer

I would like to recommend HighPerformanceBulbs. Brightest, cleanest canbus LEDs of any kit and error free, guaranteed!

If this is happening to you which means the leds in your center dome isn't pulling enough resistance and the car thinks there is nothing there so it turns off. There are threads back in 2008 where customers complained about the leds turning off. After 08 around 09 time the panels were then figured out by vendors who are not sponsors on here anymore to fix the issue and since then everyone has been using it thus far until we see recently no more ghetto tape used and new panels are coming out.

You will continue to have this issue until the resistance issue is figured out or as modmy3 says, add on a resistor and call it a day. The issue I see with mix and matching kits is everyone's kit has different color scheme so if you buy one kit and not another you will have different color kits where it looks mickey mouse as heck.
