Boost guage but now what to do with this?

OK, so I went ahead and ordered the LED boostgauge. However, it ends in this bung thing and I dont know what I need to tap into the vacuum lines from this.

Anyone got a clue?

Well, you can shove a rubber hose over it and splice it in to the diverter lines.

I wish I could offer you some advice, but i've never seen a boost gauge with a threaded end on it like that.

You could buy a connector to a nylon tubing or a rubber tubing from summit racing; like this one.

it looks like that is the end of the vacuum line that connects to either the MAP sensor that comes with the guage or the gauge itself. It depends on what else came with your package.

Hi

Did you buy a digital boost gauge with a dedicated boost sensor ? It looks like this ...

If so, puhhh ... You might have to drill a hole and tap a thread into the intake near the 335i original boost sensor where you can screw in and seal the sensor.

Ouch

If so and you would not like to do it, you could try to excange your digital boost gauge with a mechanical one where you simply can tap into the vacuum lines.

My $0.02

Cheers
Eugen

^Nice, i'm glad to see that you found the parts you need. That is kind of retarded how it comes from them though. It should come with a fitting for a vac line.

Exactly what I said to them. Their response was every vac line is a different size so they couldnt provide every fitting. I was like whatever. The extra parts didnt break the bank so at least I can get started now. My only problem is where to actually mount it and how to get through the firewall to tap the vac line. I want to tap the lines that go into the OEM BOV's so I need to find a way to get through on the drivers side.

That is a lame excuse on their part, almost all cars use one of two vac line sizes, and even if one is larger then the other it can usually slide over the same vac T without a problem. As far as running the wiring for the boost solenoid goes, I had a similar install with my Greddy Profec E-01. You don't have to feed the large vac side end through the firewall, you can just disconnect that and keep that in the engine bay where you are going to mount it, and then just run wiring from the other end through the firewall (on the LCD end, run the wires from the cabin through the firewall into the engine bay). From what I can see in the pic it looks like that would work, but then again I haven't seen the opening on the E92 firewall yet. I need my damn car already!!!!!!!!! ARGHHHHH!!!!

If you are routing cables, you could do it through the ECU-Box:

"You can pull the ECU and PROcede out and off to the side. After that the yellow plastic box comes out and exposes the grommet in the firewall. You go right through that and you come out behind the glove box. You just have to not be afraid to pull out the ECU."

I'm assuming that there is also a hole in the firewall on the driver's side too? It would probably be easier for mounting the boost gauge that is going to be on that side anyway.

So take this as the plan 'B'. I'm glad to know at least 1 way, really .

Problem Im facing now is WHERE to mount this little box. I was thinking of cutting into the aluminum trim and just bying a new piece to replace it when I have to return it.

I would attach a clip to the back of it and just clip it to the driver's side AC vent, kind of how those AC air freshener things mount with the little fan thing. Do you have any idea what i'm talking about? Then I would run the wire through the vent if that's possible. Its hard to give suggestions without the car here, but this is what I had in mind. Cutting the trim and having it sit flush with the dash is a good idea though if you can pull it off.

I actually have one of those things so YES I do know. Thats a pretty good idea but not sure how cheesy that would look.

Not yet, havent even put it in the car yet to try. Still working on the prior issues(IE: Where to mount, where to go through firewall).
