Question Turbos suck too much air?????

Look at my air intake filter....

I installed it back in August 2011. It looks like the air intake filter was "squished".
There is about 3 cm clearance from the throttle body.
I only drove spirited probably twice last month.

Any idea, folks?
Thank You

I have the same cone, have about 2000miles on it. It's perfect, dunno why yours looks like that.

its just a horrible design, I would look into upgrading to the DCI. There are several vendors that sell these! good luck.

Just get at DCI or put the stock box back on.

Angry

I was going to say that too.
However, there has to be at least a semi-logical explanation.

Guys, that looks like a BMS single filter system.

are you should you did not bend any of the pleats when installing?

If not, put the stock air box back in and call the company that supplied you the filter.

Cool

It is BMS. Terry said it was probably just cosmetic.
I didn't bend anything during the install.
The reason why I am asking here is that I am curious if anybody experiences something like this.

This is the stupidest intake I have ever seen. I think that the surface of that filter is half of the surface of the OEM filter.

OP, really, get at least a DCI...

Your turbos are fighting to suck in enough air a.k.a. intake restriction.

Not good for making power or for the longevity of your turbos.

Take it out as soon as possible.

Cosmetic? Don't think so.

Question

Are there credible substantiating evidences that suggest the dual cone intake is better than my current intake?
I'll take it any intake is better than that of OEM.
Thank You

I can assure you the DCI atleast wont deform. However their are still better options of intakes.

That is the old BMS single cone intake. It has 20% more surface area than stock and flows as well as a DCI. They have made 440rw stock turbos with it.

The DCI is more popular though and uses the same couplers. I can sell you just the filters if you want to upgrade to the DCI. On the squishing those pleats would need to be bent during install but looks cosmetic to me too.
