why SHOULDNT I buy the Cobb AP?
Please note: this is not a debate between tunes; this is specific to the Cobb AP only.
There are 3 popular tunes out there that I have looked in to. Procede.. probably the best imo and has the most upgradability Burger JB4.. best bang for the buck imo and the Cobb AP... literally the only plu and play solution out there. That is why I am going with the Cobb, its plug and play. Now upon further research, it seems that the same car with the same mods will yield virtually the same results with all three tunes. At least with the tunes I would add (FMIC, 335is muffler). Given that the Cobb isnt cheap, is there ANY real reason why I would buy it? In case you are wondering, my car is a 08 e92 335i 6at. I would love FBO so I can go stage 2+ but I dont want to worry about the downpipes voiding my warranty. |

I can't think of a reason not to. I have owned several tunes for the N54 and I bought a Cobb AP. IMO they're all good choices. It depends on what you want from a tune. Just beware of biased opinions.

it is.
i just picked up a Cobb AP from Jeff@TGS. i couldn't have been happier with the price...and being able to flash without getting into the engine bay is a plus for many. still have my Procede too...which i'll probably upgrade to at least rev2.5. |

If plug and play install is key, the cobb wins (even though getting to the ecu becomes second nature with the piggy backs).
Plug and play logging (which is a good idea for generally safety), is easy as simply plugging into the obd port, which is a lot better than running a wire from the ecu into your car and then logging around on laptop. I log under heaving accelerations and breaking and having a laptop on the front seat, to me, isnt ideal. All these tunes have proven to provide real power and overall safety (proven by so few blown engines), however, I would make sure you research how each produces its power and the benefit/safety aspects of these approaches. Things to look at, afr, boost, and timing control. Also, cobb is behind on the meth integration and dash controls. However, they have only been on the scene for about 10 months and have basically surpassed all other flash tuners and are hot on the heels of the piggy tuners that have spent 3-4 years on this platform. Also, once you install any of these mods, you will be addicted and adding everything your bank account will allow. Have fun modding |

Not sure if the "La" is the city or state, but if you're running 91 octane, it's a HP/TQ killer. The best way to counter that for daily driver is through the use of efficient Meth. Also instant map switching on the fly if that is important to you. |

We've sold a TON of Cobb Access Ports - not a single complaint! Installation is a breeze, no messing with wires, harnesses, taking cowls off, etc.

i have a cobb and a rev III procede (FBO's minus meth on my car). i have switched back and forth several times between the 2, and decided i like the procede a little better for the way it performs.
the procede tune pulls deep into the rpm band, just as strong at 3.5k rpms as it is at 6.5k. the cobb, while it seems to have more of a punch down low, kind of falls off in the upper rpm's. the procede seems more eager to rev, also, proabably due to the higher ignition advance. with the cobb, it feels a little more laggy. i will say the cobb is superior at datalogging and the install is much easier. i'll probably keep both tunes, and attempt to tune the cobb with atr to drive like the procede in the future. |

dumbest post in here by far.....congrats...... i took my car into the dealership 2 weeks ago and got my turbos replaced under warranty. all i did was uninstall my AP before i dropped the car off. when i picked it up, i had the AP in my pocket - 200 yards from the dealer i reinstalled my AP at the gast station while punishing a Monster and some beef jerkey. |
