Hi! I'm new, and just got a 2007 335i e92 :)
Hi guys,
I've been poking around this forum the last few days and decided to finally join and post my own ride. I just purchased a 2007 335i 6MT coupe with 12k miles - it has premium, cold weather, and sport. I'm still figuring out everything inside the car, as it's my first bimmer. Anyway, here are a couple of pics I took this weekend. Couple of questions: So I'm pretty sure the 4 year warranty is up, does anyone recommend the Extended Warranty/Maintenance plan? I'm thinking that I'd like my oil changed more than 15k mi apart, and so I might just do my own oil changes. Also, I bought my car privately (it was a screaming deal, with clean carfax and clean inspection), so is it recommended that I take the car to a BMW dealership (guessing Seattle) to do any primer inspection or tune up? I'm curious about that HPFP recall/replacement that I've seen pop up on the forums. Anyway, thanks for looking!

I thought I was reading a type when I first saw your mileage! heh
Congrats on your new ride and welcome to the forum. One of the reasons why my wife and I buy BMW is for the warranty. See what pricing they can offer and make your decision based on that. Definitely Seattle service!

Welcome to the Forum! Congrats on the purchase! Like others said, I'm amazed at the low mileage of the car for being a 2007. I wonder if it has ever even had an oil change, haha.
On that topic, to address your question on oil change periodicity, that has been a hot debate for quite some time on this forum from what I've read. Some who are really worried about it argue that it should be as often as 3K or 5K miles, like traditional oil changes. Others say it is a waste of time and money to do it more often than the 15K the manual calls for. Pretty much the consensus is to just do what you are comfortable with. I fall somewhere in the middle I guess and do it about every 7K or 8K miles, about twice as often as the manual states. It doesn't cost too much to do it yourself, and I figure this gives me a bit of a safety factor and may possibly help extend the engine life a little, but who knows. As far as whether to take the car to a dealer for inspections, I doubt there is much that would be suspect on a car with only 12K miles. The only thing I would want to take it in for is to ask the dealer if the fuel pump had been replaced under the recall yet. Anyway, just my $.02. Enjoy your new ride!

if u r able, i would definitely recommend extended maintenance/warranty. even though it has low miles, a lot of things can go wrong and repair cost won't be pretty so it does worth that extra couple grand, let alone maintenance...
i thought i'd never use warranty repair except stupid HPFP thing but i had steering fluid rack repaired with warranty which would've been well over thousand dollars and i just recently have water pump and thermostat replaced on my own and that was also over thousand dollar which actually was cheaper because i didn't do this at the dealer (thanks to broadstroke associate), it would've been more like $1600+ at the dealer... battery and brake is one of the things that'll be due within also so i strongly recommend oh btw, welcome! ![]()

Congrats on the car!! Definitely amazed at the low miles as others have said. I was on the fence with the extended warranty and/or maintenance but I decided to save at the same rate as I would have been paying for either of those plans. Also, for the maintenance plan, I believe the dealership will only perform maintenance when your car tells you to. For example, if the car says the brakes are fine, you can't request to change the brakes. I would suggest bringing the car for a full inspection though (either dealership or Indy shop). It's relatively cheap and you get a pretty extensive report about the state if the car. =)

Thanks guys! Yeah, I was super surprised to find one with so few miles. I believe it's already had one oil change at 6k miles, but I don't what else has been done yet. I'll probably go into BMW Seattle and ask about the HPFP soon.
I'm still on the fence about the warranty, but based on what I've read in other threads I'll probably want to tackle changing my own oil every 6-7k miles.

Nice ride bro.
I would ask the dealer which software is currently on it as it may or may not have turbo lag. Remember they will automatically update it when you bring it in specially if the fuel pump has not been change yet. |

even if take that maintenance side of it out of the equation, one semi-major repair will make up the cost... u'll find yourself kicking it yourself when SA finds out you are a customer in immediate trouble, without warranty and i assure you when he flashes with the bill, you will not be pleased to see... it's all up to you but if you are planning on keeping it for the long time, it's worth looking into...
