FBO 335 vs FBO B8 S4
Couldn't really find any threads on this, but has anyone had experience with a full bolt on B8 S4? I'd imagine FBO they can give the 335i a run for its money. Don't know how FBO on both sides would compare so I was wondering about everybody's input on this. I'd imagine the 335i's would have the advantage from a roll though. I was curious to see how a FBO 335i or 335xi would do against those supercharged V6's from a roll and dig.

I don't think I've read anything on them trapping 120mph yet. They're pretty fast in the 1/4 mile though thanks to the AWD advantage, I was snooping around the other forums and found that one of them broke in the 11s at 115mph which is a rather low trap speed.

I've been wondering this myself as well. What popular tunes do they run?

figure 335 transfers more power to the wheels and weighs 500lb lighter according to edmunds specs. plus fbo 335's are making more power. a beautiful tuned + full exhaust white b8 s4 cruised with a group of friends and myself from h2o vw/audi car show weekend a few weeks back. my friend dino has a 2011 sti hatchback, cobb tune, invidia full exhaust, cobb intakes.. they did a good 3-4 pulls at 40-110~mph. the s4 would ever so slightly pull on him but hardly. meanwhile i can say my FBO 335 pulls very very hard on his sti, if u want an approx measure, bus lengths and it only gets more and more as the sti has a weak top end and the n54 keeps pulling... this would support my thoughts that 335 would pull for sure..

I ran an S4 which had APR and claimed to be FBO.... I did pull on him pretty nicely from a roll. From a dig it was a game of catchup due to the AWD.
Mods were jb3+meth at the time.

APR Stage 2+ is putting down just over 400awhp. The dual clutch transmission should help it also. But I think the 335i is still ahead in development.

i heard the S4 is pretty strung out as-is from factory, so it doesnt have as much potential as a 335 from factory.
my moneys on 335

You guys keep mentioning FBO s4's. I'm willing to be none of those s4's are what the n54 community would cosider FBO. Most of these guys were probably running nothing more than a tune/intake/exhaust
would you consider tune/intake/exhaust (no DP's) a FBO 335i? My bet is that we would call it lightly modded I'd like to see a traditional FBO n54 run an s4 with: apr tune apr pulley (recently released so i doubt any of the cars you guys ran had it) Long Tube headers (gets rid of the cats/our version of DP's) Intake Exhaust Meth Thats what i would call FBO my bet is that the n54's are still going to run higher traps but we should give the s4's some time to work on the tunes. We have all seen how far the n54 tunes have come in the past few years |

are the mods on the s4 as "dealer friendly" as the mods on our cars? is the "chip" for the s4 a mail them your ecu and get an upgraded one back type of deal? how quick can you go from stage 2 back to stock?

APR chip is a flash, and it's controlled from the cruise control (kinda like jb4). So switching between maps is pretty simple.

I would guess that the hp/$ that we see with meth on the N54 isn't even going to come close on a blown B8 motor. But I'm sure it could help. I suspect it will be several more years of development before the B8 will see the kind of gains that are being seen with an N54, (assuming they ever do). |
