Former GT fanboy rant
(NOT interested in a flame war, this is just a throwaway post to get my first 5 behind me)
Never even thought about buying a Playstation until the original Gran Turismo came out. Went on to buy a PS2 and pretty much only played GT2, GT3, and GT4 on it. Bought an original 60GB PS3 in anticipation of GT5 and waited...bought GT5 Prologue and waited... GT5 finally ships and WTF? Horns, driving suits, helmets, and gloves, while only a subset of the cars are "Premium" cars? Found myself playing Forza 3 (and now 4) much more. Every car is a "premium" car and I don't need a friggin' color chip to paint my cars...oh, and the Game Shark is built-in Digging deep, about the only thing I can find redeeming about GT5 is I believe its simulation engine is still a bit better than F4, but not by much. You can feel the effects of tuning in both games and both are consistent enough to allow you to continually improve your lap times. |

No clue why GT came out with the suits and helmets. I haven't even touched those. What the developers need to do is expand on the car modifications to compete with Forza.

GT5 only slightly edges out FM4 with it's physics......but thats the only thing GT5 has over FM4. I own both, and havn't touched GT5 since FM4 was released. FM4 does have it's flaws, mainly the AI if doing single player and tire wear/gasoline is not very realistic in enduro races. If you can get past that (which is rather easy) then it's nearly the perfect consol racing game.

i had been waiting for gt5 ever since the first teaser they did with the 599 at eiger. I pretty much got over it in a week. A lot of things were poorly implemented (damage, day/night, weather, standard cars). Even to this day they still disappoint. Recently a DLC was released with 10 "new" cars. These are cars that are already in the game, but have body kits and paint jobs so they're considered new.

I don't have FM4 yet - but I will get it. GT5 is fun, but I guess FM3 spoiled me with the level of customization available for the cars. GT5 is boring in that respect and since the physics are not too far off with FM4, I doubt I'll play GT5 very much once I move on.
