** custom made spacers with lip? **

Anyone familiar with this company?

www.motorsport-tech.com

I came across them while researching options for spacers. I have a 2008 E90 with the follow wheel/tire set up...

Linea Corse 818
8.5 x 19 (30 offset)
10 x 19 (37 offset)

...and was running 10mm spacers on the rear. Even with the fenders rolled and my KW v1 slightly raised a bit I was still getting some rubbing. Apparently this company can custom make any size spacer...and most with a lip so they are hub centric to the car and wheel centric to wheel. It sounds great...but you know what they say about being too good to be true.

Any insight?

FYI, you can't get hub centric spacer thinner than 10mm.

That's what I always thought also...but check out their site. Unless I'm reading it wrong (which I don't think I am), they can custom make smaller sizes (7mm for example) to be hub centric and wheel centric, with a lip. Seems like a unique offering, which is what stoked my curiosity...

They look legit. Will make inquiry on pricing, delivery time etc.

Physically impossible due to the size of the stock hubs on the car. You would have to machine the stock hubs smaller to make it work.

Here's an update. Upon further reading, here's what they list for what I'm guessing would be the smaller sized spacers...

Hub Centric to Vehicle and Wheel Centric to Wheel
Fits hub perfectly tight and, where wheel bolts to adapter, a custom machined adapter lip fits perfectly tight into wheel's center hole. This extra measure positively influences the ride and kills vibration. Highly recommended for newer vehicles and those which will be used for towing.

Looks like they create an adapter that extends the lip, thus allowing for the use of the smaller, non lip spacers. What do you guys think about going this route?

guys, guys please dont steer wrong, Hubcentric spacers can be produce from
5mm and up. we our selfs have provided information and have had to produce hubcentric spacers from 5mm to 7mm ,8mm and higher for testing and fitment purposes. the company grabs a solid aluminum block and cuts the center to the proper vehicle hub size and the lip on the apposite side becomes the new hub for the wheel.
as long as you have a invoice stating the correct specs your in good hands. theirs many shops especially in Los angeles that manufactures this apon single order request.

Spoke to them, they can produce a spacer about one MM shorter than the hub lip. ie 12MM hub+11MM spacer etc.

Just draw the section of the wheel hub with a hub centric spacer on it. You will realize that there are limitations on how small a spacer can be. Basically the hubcentric spacer must be at least as thick as the hub lip thickness.

Your best bet is to try a non-hubcentric spacer which still leaves some of the hub lip outside of it. Like a 3mm spacer or maybe a 5mm spacer. I don't see any problem with such a spacer. The hub lip is like 12mm long.

You may also want to take a look at this thread:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...=602582&page=2

EDIT: Here is something interesting:

This is from Turner MS on the 5mm-
"* = a 5mm spacer sits on the existing hub lip but leaves less than 5mm of lip for the wheel to rest on. Therefore, wheels that have a bevel around the center bore will not engage the hub lip and a vibration may result."
