I have an Alpine White 07 335i with an Mtec bumper and black kidneys. The part of the "kidneys" that is attached to the hood on the driver's side is showing major wear. The other kidneys and passenger eyelid (?) all look perfect.

Beneath the black on the driver's side is chrome and it does not appear to be sanded, worn, scratched or anything that you would do to apply paint to it.

Is this an OEM part? I read that black cars may have come with black colored kidneys. Is this correct?

If not, where can I get a replacement that is likely to match the parts i already have?

Incorrect, they all came with chrome surrounds and either matte black or chrome slats.

If you want to keep the black, look in the f/s threads for a set of matte black kidney grills. You'll be able to find a set for a reasonable price.
