Supposedly looks like the F30 will not come to the US in a d variant, but rather in a hybrid variant.... We shall see as there is more to come.

If you saw the F30 328i's mileage figures with the 2 liter turbo, they match the 335d. Granted, this is only with RWD and the 8 speed auto. I bet the 335d would do better with the 8 speed auto as well.
At those figures, BMW would be better off bringing the 320d here. That should be significantly better that the 328i, but it "may" fall out of the "performance" category that people expect BMWs in the US to be in. Personally, I'd take a 320d over a 328i 2 liter, but that being said, I'm interested to drive the new turbo 4. I bet the Z4 with the 2 liter and a 6 speed manual would be a blast. I'm a Saab turbo guy at heart too, so I'm a fan of the 4 banger turbo and its tuneability. And above all, my 335d isn't going anywhere. I'll keep my 425lb/ft of torque! It's still the best car I've ever owned. And diesel is still within 30 cents of premium at my local stations (now comfortably over $4 in the LA area). |
