CC ID 29 today, Bmw service or Other shop
Hey guys, just got a cc id 29 when i put the car into DS and gave it some gas, now i did some research and it can be due to many things. One of which is the fuel pump? I never had a recall on the fuel pump and the car should be out of warranty now (08 335) do you guys recommend to bring it to bmw and check or goto an aftermarket shop? Could it be something simpler such as the ignition coils? code goes away once i drove slow again, which is weird... Thanks in advance guys !

Well I would advise taking it back to bmw... the pressure pump is a known problem on the 335i... Its a design flaw and invariably fails on all the models...
Therefore it could be argued they should be changing it irrespective of warranty... They were supposed to officially recall all models and refit with a new HPFP... I think you should just go talk to them... |

Weird, tried to replicate the problem. its not coming back (thank god). I checked all the hoses if they were loose and tightened all the clamps to see if anything was loose. Engine doesn't have rough idle and doesn't have a long crank (1-2 second crank). Maybe its not the HPFP?

haha thanks yoro! i was thinking of just putting it into sport. Aggresive will give me a "pant shitting" experience for sure, but in the form of tickets and court notices haha. The outcome of a heavy foot and low willpower!

i think it was ecu adapation of the different fuel grades. It never came back after multiple tries of recreating the problem. (knock on wood). Probably somthing to do with different fuel grades from caltex and shell.

If shell V-power in hk is the same as uk then it is 93-94 octane, best do you own research cuz im not sure if the hk one is 99 ron?! i only use normal unleaded when i drive in hk!

I'm not sure myself, i tried doing some research but shell hong kong site doesn't list what ron V power is. Just kept repeating marketing shit. if it caused an overboost issue, would that mean that shell has a lower octane than caltex platinum? or would it be the other way around, haha. I would assume that it was lower since lower octane gas has higher combustability but less stable combustions and i'm guessing thats what happened.

Also had this issue. First there was no difference in driving, tech at the workshop reset the errors and everything was normal. About a month later same thing, but this time the car stayed in limp mode.
Ended up being the valve-tronic sensor that needed to be replaced. About $600. 3 months later and everything still ok |

Mine turned out to be a bunch of problems. HPFP was going, Injectors were replaced with it, something wrong with the wastegate that was causing it to be caught stuck. Car runs like a champ but has a bit of a rough idle with cold start, hopefully nothing goes wrong.
