Thumbs down bmw screwed up my order

my car had arrived at the dealership this past friday and i was in the area so i decided to take a look at it. after searching the parking lot there was only one that fit the description of my car so i went to take a closer inspection and the car had aluminum instead of burl wood so i figure it couldnt be mine but in the window sticker it had my last name. fuk.
what should i do try to get a discount or something?

Big time! Get your original invoice and pound them into either a discount or changing it to the correct specs. Wait till they deliver it of course.

to switch the trim? i'm sure if they found another car in the lot with the trim you wanted in the right specs (idrive or not) they could swap it. but you might also want to consider that the car wasn't in the lot... might have been inside or parked soemwhere else?

before i picked up my car, my car was parked inside the actual "sales building"... they said they did this just to show people my uncommon aluminum trim and also keep it clean before I picked it up that day... *shrugs*

They can switch it, relax it takes like an hour. No big deal.

I had a similar problem when the BMW dealer took my order (missed the Walnut trim), but I was able to to correct the "omission" before they sent it to Germany.

In the end, you only have yourself to blame as you have to "manage" the entire process.

I double checked, triple checked the sales order to make sure every component and trim is correct (nothing more and nothing less, including no Auto), then follow up with a formal email to list out all the components and trims (including exterior and interior color).

Judging from your description, the only thing that could "save" you is having the Burl Wood trim on the original sales order (although I doubt it). Otherwise, you have to rely on any black & white documentation you have sent to the CA or BMW dealer to "prove" you have requested the Burl Wood trim.

When I ordered mine I obtained a copy of the signed sales order. As well, I conferred with the sales rep via email to confirm all the options by name and by option code, got his reply, and I saved that email. Let's see if I have to use any of those when the car shows up.
